Can you help me understand? I just ask questions and I do see that some people are trolling but...what do you see as bashing? I'd be interested to know where you draw that line.

Thanks!

If you're not with them, you're bashing them.

A Christian basher is someone who hates a believer for no other reason than they profess the Name of the Lord. I can handle personal attacks and give back as good as I get, but when they mock and blaspheme our Savior, Jesus Christ, I get really bent out of shape.

A Christian basher typically makes comments implying that Christians are retarded, incapable of reasoning and logic, or they make other personal slurs. They attack someone they've never met, just on the basis of that person's religious beliefs.

I have no problem with someone who genuinely wants to know about my faith. I also don't mind a lot of the silly or funny questions that don't have the intent to mock or blaspheme God. And yes, I can handle personal attacks, even if they're baseless.

But when someone starts spewing vile things just because they hate my Lord and Savior, then that's waaay over the top. The line has been crossed, and all bets are off.

In all my full year on Y!A, I've not seen one question or answer that 'bashes' anything. I've seen opinions, I've seen many people disagree, I've sometimes seen people try to make a point with being brutally honest about how they feel.

None of that is bashing.

However, Christians see 'disagreeing' as bashing in a lot of cases. It seems they hate it when people disagree. They want the debate, but at the same time they wanna be treated with a silk glove that silently whispers "I agree".

It's funny, really. Bash on!

The word basher is never found in a Christians' vocabulary. If Christ is our main example then shame on us who call ourselves Christian and do this.

Do we not know that the world watches us and judge our behaviors and decided whether our Christianity is real.

How can we defame the name of christ and feel good abput ourselves. We are told that we crucify Him afresh everytime we willfully sin against Him.

So before we go bashing anyone or becoming a basher remember that whatsoever things are lovely think on these things.

I can't speak for Christians, but they seem unable to face the hard truth. Calling their silly God a "silly God" is considered bashing. Reminding them that their Church has murdered millions of innocent people who did nothing but think for themselves is also considered bashing. Basically, disagreeing with any of their superstitions is considered bashing. At least that's my slant on it, as an unrepentant Christian basher.

"Bashing" would be the point at which a person starts not only putting down the religious theology but personal attributes of the personage that involves themselves within that particular religion.

Example: Jewish people have a large nose. To say this would be anti-Semitic, just plain ignorant, and pisses me off. (Sorry to my Jewish friends, knowing how many times you are bashed this way I thought I might just let the idiots who do it see themselves in a new light!!)

Inquiries are far from a trolls mind; what little they have. A basher is more out to push their views onto a christian. (ex.: an atheist knocking verses around and poking fun)

With me ..It's just a difference of opinions. I don't see any bashing going on. Well,... I could be missing it...

There is a difference between disagreeing with someone and insulting them or their beliefs. Non-Christians (a minority) are not the only ones doing this either.

I draw the line when I get hateful emails...and tell me I don't know what I am talking about...EVERYONE is entitled to an opinion, even if it doesn't agree with yours.
