HI All,
Can Hypothyroid cause purplish colored heels and lower ankles?
I have had this since a little girl and can't figure out why. I am now 52.
Thanks, Sue

No Hypothyroidism cannot cause this. Your thyroid regulates your body's metabolism and with hypothyroidism you will have weight gain, lethargy, etc. If you are concerned your thyroid is not working correctly, ask your MD to draw a free T4 and TSH blood test.
It sounds to me that you may have a peripheral circulation issue...it sounds from your symptoms that perhaps your arterial blood flow isn't adequate. Hope this helps

Ask a doctor not the collective stupidity that is Yahoo Answers.

since this isn't an urgent problem, make an appointment with your doctor. it could be normal for you.
