The Bible tells us it is against God's will to worship false idols, so it wouldn't being a Christian Rocker actually be against the commandments?
How could a Christian be on American Idol and not break the commandment?

"Christian Rock" is an oxymoron; a contradiction in terms. Those two words CANNOT go together, Biblically.
To be a Christian is to be a follower of Christ.
Rock is a large part of worldly craze.
The problem is that many people want it appears that they are leaving the worldly pleasures for a godly life, yet they are not prepared to give up rock. So they bring it into the church and 'Christianize' it by keeping the music but changing the lyrics. But the effect is musical and not lyrical. Therefore, they deceive themselves that they are serving God when in effect they are still in the camp of their old master. Yes, I know that in this Post-Modern Age, a lot of people will want to ask me, "And who are you to judge?". Exactly, no absolute standards.

There's half a dozen psalms referring to making a joyful noise unto the Lord. I find four more, as well as a verse in Isaiah 42, with references to singing unto the Lord a new song. I don't see how doing so would be contrary to any commandment.

Being idolized is the other person's problem - not yours.

There are ministers that are idolized in this country. Is even the Pope idolized? You can enjoy yourself and listen to "clean" music without becoming obsessed. We do not have to label everything Christian and non-Christian. There are grey areas.

Rock and roll is the locusts of revelations ch. 9 that permeates our society like a plague in moses day. they subvert your walk with christ to keep you from dieing to your will to do His will. you can't go anywhere without those locusts being there. you go to a mall, a restaurant, turn on the tv, the radio, drive down the road and someone pulls up next to you. stay away from it. God did not give rock and roll to you, that is blasphemous

taking the bible out of context. you are only an idol when you call for people to worship you. so if you go around demanding worship then you are going against the bible. stop over doing the bible verses. live life, don't trip over the small things.

i think you are reading way too much into this. There are certainly more important things that God is worried about than American Idol and if I where you... I'd be focused on people getting saved vs. American Idol

U think the key word here is 'worshipping' I can enjoy any music, but I certainly don't worship anyone. I do however think Jon Bon Jovi is very good looking, but I do not worship him.

American Idol is the name of the program. Now, when they start burning candles to them and chant "these are our saviors in whom we trust", then you will have a problem.
