I convinced my mom by taking her to the pet store and getting her to pet the dogs. And my mom was 100% against it before she played with the adorable face!

Or you could try asking for a snake or something they would be against more and then "settling" for a dog.

Oh and do something for them, like quickly clean the kitchen.

Convince them that you are ready to take on the long-term responsibility of owning a dog. I'd assume you could make sure the dog gets brushed and walked every few days. You might have to prove that you are ready for this responsibility over the next few weeks, by doing house chores without complaining. Might not be able to prove that within the next 3 hours.

First of all, how old are you? What have you done to show them that you are responsible enough to take care of this puppy? Would this puppy be indoors or outdoors?

If indoors, are you going to take it outside every few hours for a walk and to do its business?

Are you going to feed and water him/her everyday? Who is going to buy the food and take it to the vet for its shots?

There is a lot to think about when you buy a puppy. This puppy will probably cry at night at first. Where would the puppy sleep?

Why don't your parents want you to have the puppy? Are their reasons valid? Are you home enough to take care of this puppy? You cannot be gone all day if you have a puppy indoors. Will this puppy be crate trained, meaning - be in a crate during the day when no one is home? Puppies have to have a lot of attention.

This is a decision that is not to made quickly, it is to be discussed responsibly with your parents and thought out before.

You should also decide what kind of puppy you want before you get it. Do you want a big or small dog? Who is going to train this dog. There are some dogs who drool. Some who are good watch dogs, some who are good lap dogs. There is alot to be thought of before you get one. Not a spur of the moment kind of decision. Sorry, probably not the answer you wanted from me.

Tell them that having a puppy is a big responsibility and if they are gonna let you get one today it's gonna help you become more responsible in handling your things and posessions and it could help you in disciplining urself to spend time with the pup since its your responsibility. Besides, tell them when it grows it could be a very big help to you and your family. After all, Dogs are man's bestfriends!

Why are you in such a hurry? Have you thought about breed? Will the breed you like fit in with your lifestyle? Do you know how expensive it is to keep a dog? Not cheap! Can you afford to have your dog spayed/neutered? Once the novelty of having a puppy wears off, are you still going to want to do everything it takes to look after a dog?

The fact that you are in such a rush tells me you are not ready for a dog. If you were mature enough to look after a dog, you'd be mature enough to wait.

tell them you would take care of the puppy. Come up with a plan for how you would take care of it. If you are in school, get a crate so that you can help potty train it.
Good Luck!

Give them good reasons why you should be allowed to get him/her &prove it. Offer to pay for it. Say that it's your responsibility and you'll do whatever it takes to get him/her. Tell them that it's the only thing you want for the entire year.(But Remember TAKING ON A DOG IS A HUGE RESPONSIBILITY!!! READ MORE INTO DOGS ON WEBSITES LIKE www.pedigree.com !!!!)
