I need to file a 2005 tax return and am trying to avoid doing a "paper" return. Do you know anything about filelate.com, priortax.com or taxbrain.com? Has anyone had success with any of these sites or know of any scams associated with them?

You can not electronically file 2005, only the current year can be Efiled,, They will probably process your return and give you a paper return to mail. There is no way to avoid filing a paper return for any prior year

Here is a lin to the forms for 2005 and instructions

I don't know anything about those on-line tax sites, but I do know for 100% certainty that you will have to file your 2005 return by "paper file". The deadline for on-line filing of the 2005 return was some point in October 2006.

The IRS doesn't accept on line filing of returns from prior years - the only one you can file online now is 2006. You'll have to do 2005 as a paper return.
