What do you mean by live godly? Certainly he did not live in a palace. He did not walk around taking money from people and wearing gold chains. Frankly you just don't believe. It's not that Jesus was a con man, it's that your heart has been conned into remaining closed. With the same ingenuity that you thought up this premise, put your mind and heart to some good use.

A con man wouldn't lay down his life at the age of 33. He was the sacrificial Lamb of God the prophets of the Old Testament spoke of. All their prophecies given by the Holy Spirit were fulfilled in Jesus Christ. Jesus loves you and wants to save you from your sin if you'll let Him. Ask Him - confess to him alone and He will forgive you. 1 John 1:9

Because a 'godly' man CANNOT at the same time be a con man. Oh, sure, there are many con men who pretend to live godly but that was not what you said; you said 'live godly'. Nothing here about pretense.

The devil tried to tempt Jesus. He wasn't effectual! The Bible would not say that some twit head won't be able to attempt to tempt God; it says God won't be able to and should no longer be tempted. And He wasn't! Jesus held solid and authentic, like constantly! compliment the Lord!

Would you want to be tortured and killed to try and do such a thing? Jesus was. Read about the lifestyle Jesus led. It was not all glory, fortune, fame and "let the good times roll" His life was in no way "easy street."

If that was his plan I am not sure how it worked in his favor. He tried to help when he could and he was abused, hated, and in the end crucified. So if that was his ultimate plan, it was a really bad plan.
