Well, if you were a father and you asked your son if he was smoking and he lied and said no, how would you feel? I feel bad for your mom. She's obviously concerned about you. You should be lucky you have her as a lot of kids these days don't have such caring parents.

The excuse you made that 'this is what teenagers do' seems pretty childish to me and shows that you still feel the need to just go along with the crowd in order to fit in. Think for yourself. Don't do things just because others do. Seek out some more mature friends and you'll get much further in life!

Honey, I don't mean to sound harsh - but "this is what teenagers do" is no excuse. That is a cop out. You are responsible for your choices. Hold yourself accountable. I think you already know the answer to your question, but I will say it anyway. It is wrong to lie. It is also unwise, to keep things like this from your mom. Your parents are there to guide and raise you, right. Whether you realize it or not - you need them.

I don't know why you picked up these unhealthy habits, but you need to ask yourself, why. Is it a cover-up for personal issues you are struggling with and trying to escape? Is is a rebellious act, to show your independence and "maturity"? Or is it just a peer thing, to fit in and feel normal? If it is personal issues, you need to communicate them to your mom - or someone you trust, who is mature enough to be a healthy support for you, and help you seek resolution. If it is a rebellious act, just to show independence - there are better ways to prove your "maturity", and define your own identity. Even some adults are immature, and make stupid decisions. Mimick the good things. If you want to prove you are worthy of the responsibility of being independent - then act responsible. If its a peer thing - snap out of that mentality. Following the crowd will always lead you straight into trouble. The majority is not always right. Use your own mind. Make your own decisions. Be sensible and learn to think for yourself. Smoking and drinking always start out little - not that that's the point. They aren't good for you, and you know. it. You also are not just hurting yourself. Your habits DO hurt others. Denial is shallow; don't go there. So grow up, baby. The world is not kind to those who so insult themselves, as to allow others to think for them. Take care of yourself, honey. And save your mom some grief.

You don't need a bunch of strangers to tell you the answer to this. Why would your mother "freak?" Let's see, she knows that smoking is bad for your body, it's illegal for you to buy your own cigarettes, it's addictive, it's expensive, it smells bad, the odor clings to your clothes, your hair and your breath. The question becomes, "Why would you WANT to smoke?"
And drinking? See all of the above.
So let's review. You are engaging in unhealthy, destructive, smelly and illegal behavior and you want us to tell you it's okay. You already know the answer.

It is illegal (not to mention stupid) for you to do either of those things. Lying is never right. If you convince yourself it's okay to lie about this...what else will you decide it's okay to lie about? Since you lie, you won't have a right to be upset with others when they lie to you.

Where does it end?

karma baby...treat people as you want to be treated. Just because some teenagers do stupid things, why do you want to? why not show you've got more sense and better judgement than others?

What goes around, comes around...

Tell em, you wont like it. but you wil see that they can help. keeping it just makes it worse. sure u'll get punished, but then it all works out. try it. you've got nothing to lose, except ur playstation , and thats not worth your life.

Why not try to be a leader and not a follower. What you are doing is hurting yourself and it's not legal for reasons. Is that what you really want to do or is it peer pressure?
