Not only did I wait till the last minute, I also lost the sheet with the ordinary dividends and capital gain from my mutual fund. This also happened on a Friday, so I almost didn't catch the customer service people at the fund company.

I'm still waiting, you have until 4-17. If you have to pay you should mail it on the last day. You will owe no more and no less taxes by filing late or early. Your question does not makes sense.

Heck yeah! I sold some real estate last year and had a HUGE tax bill due. I wanted to keep that money earning money for me so I just paid the taxes yesterday. Since I had paid in 100% of my 2005 liability there was no penaty for underpayment due. (They did get a chunk, but I got the bigger chunk!)

I learned you should never wait till the last minute to pay your taxes because they will mess u up.

my dad files my taxes for me and i got my return checks in march! so he's a good example to follow...do your taxes early! waiting will only make it harder.
