THANKS YOU GUYS YOU DONT KNOW HOW SCARED I WAS, but other cultures have suggested this too-according to Hindu legend, the world will either end on the 24th March 2012 with a war of religions or it will be reborn-apparently Shivas(hindu god of destruction and rebirth) third eye is half open, which symbolises that we are in the middle of some kind of process:this means that five yrs ago the world was either reborn or destroyed-- 5 yrz ago was the september 11th attacks - a war of religions, but 2012 is scheduled 2 be the big one, the event where Shiva is either reborn on Earth or the world is destoyed with a huge war.this means Shivas third eye will either open or close-suggestions of a close judgment day have also been made by members of the Islamic community about the prophet Mohammed coming to warn them in dreams- can anyone explain this?

Here is an answer I have given before. The Mayans were an ancient civilization and renown for their accurate astrological skills in detecting the exact point of the stars at any given moment, the phase of the moon, and much more. They devised the most accurate calendar known to man even today. This calendar ends on the 21st of December 2012. We don't know for sure if the world will end after that date because when the Spaniards invaded Mayan territory they burnt all Mayan documents. It is possible that there is more to the calendar but it was lost in history. It is also possible that the Mayans thought it was pointless calculating more dates to the calendar. There is one theory that the Mayans managed to predict the dates that we were in the centre of our galaxy, because it is possible that our solar system moves around in the galaxy just as the Earth moves around the Sun. It is well-known nowadays that at the heart of every galaxy there is a black hole so some people believe that the black hole will meet us across some co-ordinate in our galaxy and we will be destroyed.

You've been misinformed. The culture in question is the Mayans. Their calendar ends on 2012, because that's as far as they were able to chart it out. It doesn't have anything to do with an apocolypse.
