Matthew 16:27-28

27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

Mark 13:24-30

24"But in those days, after that tribulation, (R)THE SUN WILL BE DARKENED AND THE MOON WILL NOT GIVE ITS LIGHT,

25(S)AND THE STARS WILL BE FALLING from heaven, and the powers that are in the heavens will be shaken.

26"Then they will see (T)THE SON OF MAN (U)COMING IN CLOUDS with great power and glory.

27"And then He will send forth the angels, and (V)will gather together His elect from the four winds, (W)from the farthest end of the earth to the farthest end of heaven.

28"Now learn the parable from the fig tree: when its branch has already become tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near.

is everyone missing the part where jesus says his second coming will be within one generation? That some of the people living will not die before his second coming?

This is a prophecy.
Matthew 27-: Jesus will come back and upon his return he will come with the Angels and come to reward everyone based on the lives they have lived whether it may be good or evil. Both have their reward.
28: Some people will not die but they will be caught up to meet Christ.
Mark 13:24-30

24:if you are familiar with the time of the tribulation this is when the sun will stop shining and if the sun does not shine neither will the moon give light. A chain reaction.

25: The universe as we know it will be in a word crumbling.

26: After all of this everyone will see Jesus Christ when he returns with all the power and Glory given to him by God the Father.

27: He is saying that when he comes he is going to get everyone who is faithful to him and take them away and reward them as earlier stated.

28: Jesus is saying here to look at the times (the things that are going on) and be wise to the fact that he his coming soon.

The sun, moon stars emit light.
Many religious leaders think they are a light, showing the way.
They are liars and hypocrites and Jesus was saying they shall be taken down.
The fig tree is an illustration indicating when they shall be taken down.
There is a certain time and it is recognizable by the signs Jesus gave to watch for.

I can only think there may be some translation erors but the I would stand by the modern bible as acurate. when it says the will not die before they see him coming in his likngdome could that have been the assention when he was raised to heaven with angels. the mark referance is certainly about the end times which we can not gueesas at.

Christ was speaking of the events that would lead up to his glorious Second Coming. There would be many tribulations and recognizable signs that his coming was near. People who are faithful to him will be gathered and caught up to meet him when he comes to baptize the earth with fire.
