Iraq has already had elections. And 100 percent safety in the green zone was never promised, nor has it ever existed, nor was it ever thought to have existed.

Well... given that we don't have 100% safety in OUR national Capitol: Washington (as well as London, Paris, Berlin, Tokyo) I'd say YES.

Then again... using the logic of "IF not 100% safety, we must withdrawl"... when are Hillary, Harry, Nancy, Ted, et al demanding a withdrawl of all federal entities and services from Washington ?

Note that Bejing and Pyongyang and Havanna and Tehran are "safe"... and certainly examples of the antithesis of a free-society.

There is never 100% safety anywhere. Yes, Iraq can still have a free society and elections. They have already had elections.

Iraq has had two elections and one referendum to approve the nation's constitution.

This kind of shoots down your entire premise.

Are you an example of the cluelessness about Iraq that the anti-war crowd has?

Well, since we also do not have 100% in Detroit, Cleveland, D.C. and just about every city/town/ etc here in the USA, when do we pull out and retreat?

we need to lose this 'green zone' mentality altogether.

if one part of that nation is regarded as safe because it's an armed fortification, i hardly see how the nation as a whole can even remotely be considered secure.

time to leave folks, let these people have their civil war...

No place is 100% safe. I have a better chance of getting murdered in DC then I do here.

yes, there is not 100% safety in New York or Alabama, you need to move forward and end needless killing on all fronts.
