Don't worry I am 19 and I have a Hypothyroid. My glands in my throat get swollen too. Get a ultra sound of your thyroid. But people with Hypothyroid just need to take a pill for the rest of there life, It is not bad. So do not worry, They once told me I had a brain tumor and i might die, then the MRI came back negative. I went a week thinking I was dieing for nothing. So do not stress , It may just be a Hypothyroid. Please talk to you doctor, and I hope you find out what is wrong soon. Good luck!!

My Daughter Had This. This Is Just Thyroid. They Have Medication For This And They Regulate It With Lab Work.

My Daughters Throat Swells When Her Thyroid Medication Needs To Be Adjusted. My Daughter Is Fine Up And Working, And Soon To Be 21 Years Old And Healthy.
You Will Be Fine There Is Going To Be A Lump In Your Throat When You Get A Cold Or Meds Need To Be Adjusted With Thyroid. No. You More Than Likely Will NOT Need Surgery The Lump Is Called A (Goiter). You May Even Have Hoarseness When You Talk It Is Normal. Cancer Is VERY VERY LOW WITH THYROID!!!!!!

Yes, unfortunately, a child can get thyroid cancer. It is a rare cancer in children, but my daughter was diagnosed at the age of 14 with thyroid cancer, and she is now 15. Thyroid cancer has a high survival rate, especially in children. It is a treatable disease when caught and treated early. Have your mom or dad take you to your doctor for a "neck check". Your doctor will know whether there is a reason to be alarmed or not. But, don't worry, many many times lumps ARE NOT cancer. It is just always smart to have them checked. Good luck!

There can be many causes for a lump. A simple infection will cause a swollen lymph node. A swollen thyroid is a goiter and in most cases not cancerous. Go see a doctor.

I had thyroid cancer, and in it is the most common form is very treatable. See a doctor and relieve your worries.

Sweetie, tell mom and go to the doctor. This doesn't mean you have cancer. It means you probably have an infection and a swollen gland/s. This can be caused by allergies or a throat infection. Hugs and don't worry. I guess some people do not know that there is a vaccine given to kids to prevent Mumps.

Anyone of any age can get cancer. The only way to know for sure is to tell your parents and go get your thyroid checked by a doctor. Make sure to tell the doctor what you found and what you fear. Ask questions and make sure the doc explains everything so you can understand it. Just cos you're a kid doesn't mean the doc can rush you through the appointment or dismiss your concerns. Good luck sweetie.

Yes, Honey, they can. Kids littler than that have gotten cancer. But don't give up: advances have been made in treating cancer, and it might be that the lump isn't cancer at all- though it is scarey.

Cancer now isn't the death knell it used to be. So fight it! We're on your side!

Don't jump to conclusions. I'm not a Doctor and I have never met you. You may have a problem and you may not. I know many people with thyroid problems who take medicion for it.

But to answer your question, anyone with a thyroid can get thyroid cancer. But wait and see what the dr says.

A swollen gland doesn't mean cancer. If you are worried tell your parents and have it checked out by a good doctor.
