Here's my sitch:
This guy came up to me out of the blue to introduce himself to me. He's just a student from the school and I work there. He seems genuinely nice, but he also seems to be stalking me sometimes. (like staking outside my workplace and popping out to say hi) He buys me coffee some days and I accept it as a gesture of goodwill..then I realised I shouldn't have done that 'cause I might've given him the wrong idea.

I think he wants to be more than friends, but he's totally not my type. I don't mind being friends but don't know how to put it across without hurting him. Also, I MIGHT have led him on (by accepting his coffee) so I may need an explanation for that too.

Thanks

Oh, I hate these situations! They're so uncomfortable! This guy might be nice, but what you mentioned about his *stalking* behavior worries me. As women, we're socialized into accepting things from men and we do it to be *nice* and not to make waves by refusing his coffee or whatever he buys for you. I think you need to nip this in the bud right NOW before this gets out of control. The next time you see him, sit down somewhere private, and just relate to him that you think he's been very nice, but you're feeling uncomfortable because you feel he wants to be more than friends, and you don't. Don't apologize, don't say, "It's not you, it's ME". Just be clear cut and say it straight up. "You've been very nice to me, and I've appreciated it, but I am not looking for a relationship right now." period. Don't apologize or let him make you feel guilty. Good luck!
