Protein is healthier for you.

it depends...

most weight gainers are high in sugar so they really should not be used by those with average to higher than average levels of body fat. the more body fat that a person has the easier it is to increase it as insulin sensitivity (IS) is low and that effects nutrient partitioning. more to fat cells and less to muscle cells when IS is low

it's alway best to get the vast majority of the calories from whole foods then use a weight gainer to supplement the whole food intake.

Assuming you're in good health and eating a more-or-less decent diet, and using a good exercise program, it really doesn't much matter where you get your extra calories. Balanced diets in the US contain an overabundance of protein at baseline, so you will do just about as well getting the extra calories from junk food. These things don't go straight into the muscle. They're digested in the gut and heavily metabolized in the liver, first, and your liver is amazingly able to get the right things to the right place despite wide dietary variations.

Weightgainer 2 hours BEFORE you workout, so you get energy from the carbs to push thru your workout, and protein or weightgainer after depending on how weak you feel.

Take both for specific reasons like the ones above.

I take weightgainer in the morning to give me energy and heal me muscles...makes sense doesnt it!
