The FM10 is a pretty straight forward 35mm film SLR. It can take all sorts of lenses - and Nikon has quite a few...
* fish eye lenses are for extreme wide angle shots. the focal length (field of view) ranges between 10 and 15mm. Due to their design, they provide tons of image distortion. They can be used for indoor shots, landscapes, or just for the fun of the image distortion. Considering they’re not cheap, they’re a bit of a specialty item
* regular wide angle lenses. Anything between 20mm and 40mm. These can be fixed focal length (eg. 28mm) or zoom lenses (eg. 17-35mm) Great for landscapes and perhaps street photography.
* Normal lenses. These have a focal length between 40mm and 60mm. A ´normal´ zoom lens extends this reach a bit at either end. A normal zoom might go from 28-70mm. This is what you’d keep on your camera for a walk around lens. It will cover about 80% of your needs.
Tele lens. Anything over 60mm. They go all the way up to 600mm and beyond. Good for sports, wildlife photography, birding, etc.
* micro (other brands call them macro lenses). A lens intended for close-up photography (of flowers, etc). Sometimes other lenses can be used for close-up photography too, but a micro is a dedicated lens and it produces better pictures for this particular purpose. It’s another specialty lens.
* TS lenses. Tilt-shift lenses are yet another specialty item. They are intended for architectural photography.

A starter kit would consist of a normal zoom (eg in the 28-80mm range) and a tele lens (in the 70-200mm range). Add more lenses as needed. Perhaps a 50mm f/1.8 - it´s cheap and great for low light photography.

Your camera can use all Nikon lenses except the lenses with ´DX´ in the description. DX lenses are for digital bodies only.
