When they clearly know nothing about the subject? I often see people who are CLEARLY uninformed about things that contain animal products answering questions as if they were an expert on the topic. I do not respond to questions about how to cook meat, so why would someone want to make a fool out of themselves by answering a question incorrectly? So many are uninformed about things like gelatine (jello), marshmellows, pop tarts, doritos snacks, and other things that contain products from slaughtered animals. Those that have done their homework know the truth about these things. Just wondering why some do this? I know squat about car repairs, and therefore I avoid the automotive section. Thoughts?

I have no issues at all with an omnivore answering if they KNOW what they are talking about, in fact I welcome their perspective.

Well Beebs, why don't YOU tell us why omnivores post in the vegetarian section! You brag about eating fish in OTHER sections of Yahoo Answers so that would put you in the category of omnivore although I give you credit for occasionally using the term piscivore to describe yourself. However, most of the time you LIE and claim to be vegetarian with a vegan lifestyle!!

Would you mind telling us how much you earn from shilling for mercola and/or weston price? I *know* that WAPF has started an 'education outreach' fund that they're using to pay folks to hit internet forums and spread their lies. You seem to fit that kind of profile.
STOP LYING!!!!

why? because anyone can answer or respond to whatever they want, wherever they want. Don't assume meateaters are automatically stupid because they eat meat. What does a list of crappola snacks have to do with anything? They have no redeeming qualities for vegetarians OR omnivores. So get off your soap box. I respect that you don't eat meat. End of story.

I don't avoid the automotive section. Sometimes there's useful information there. One doesn't have to be an exptert to be interested, or even to have an opinion... right or wrong. Maybe even those in the wrong will learn something by getting involved in a thread with a topic they may know little about. I'm all for that.

because the overall public of folk are omnivorous and they're a minimum of as solid at answering questions. Omnivores devour vegetables, so why might want to they no longer contact upon them? they could have effortless concerns about nutrition products and animal welfare. at the same time as vegetarians make unsubstantiated claims about the end results of kinds of agriculture or particular diets, i imagine it truly is inexpensive for every person to be able to respectfully contact upon such claims.

What are you talking about?!?!?!?!?
I usually try not to step on any other vegetarian's feet in their answers, unless they are posting wrong information, Then I will try to correct it.
You act like you don't judge anyone it their diet choices, I have actually read some of your answers saying something along the lines of not caring what other people choose to put in their mouths, as long as they don't judge you for things you put in your mouth...and things like vegan and vegetarian are "neat little labels" that people shouldn't go crazy about trying to fit into... Yet you are here in the general food and drink section stirring up all the meat- eaters so the next time they feel like asking annoying questions and bothering some one... they know just where to go (The V&V section, asking dumb questions like, " Do Vegetarians eat animal crackers?", and "If we weren’t meant to eat animals then why are they made of meat?")
Now I think it is because people like you go in their sections and ask questions like this! You are giving Vegetarians and Vegans a bad name.
...AND You do post answers about cooking meat, so I have no Idea what you are talking about, I just read one today about your knowledge on scallops (I’m not sure if it was scallops, but I know it was some sea animal)
I wouldn't be surprised if you did go into the automotive section and started spreading your "vast knowledge" there.
The only person that looks like a fool here is you! Making up lies, spreading the wrong information around, and stealing other people’s answers!
I am a vegan, I don't eat fish! Vegetarians don't eat fish! But yet you call yourself a vegetarian/ partial vegan sometimes(when the situation calls for it, of course) But you have admitted to eating fish "once or twice a year" (and probably more than that, for all we know) THAT DOES NOT MAKE YOU A VEGETARIAN, LET ALONE A VEGAN.
Half the time you are telling people that it is wrong to eat "animal flesh" including fish, and then the other half of the time, You are saying ahh its Ok to eat it, the "Veggie Police" aren't going to come around and arrest you, because it is a matter of personal choice.(I am not disagreeing with you there, I agree that it is a matter of personal choice, You just would be CHOOSING not to be a vegetarian) You contradict yourself in all your answers and questions.
So stop telling people these things, you are confusing an already misunderstood concept!

Just because someone isn't a vegetarian or vegan doesn't mean they don't know about the subject. I don't claim to be an expert but, I have family members that are vegetarians and I have made myself knowledgeable in the subject as a courtesy to them. I answer questions in that section and I eat meat.

I eat mostly vegetarian, but I do eat meat occasionally. I prefer veggie and therefore know a bit about it. But I'm no expert by any means. And like your automotive analogy, I'm no expert, but I do know some things. I figure anything I can do to help out helps someone a little.

ok there are three categorys
vegetarians: primary fruit + vegie
omnivors: eat both there like the bi-sexuals of tho food world(most people are in this category
and carnevors wich eat primarly meat
just because a person is an omnivor dosent mean that they are unable to cook a vegetarian meal I myself work in a resturant and i have to cook for a wide varity of people vegan to straight carnevor. you do have to be informed and have to be carefull soy vs dairy lard vs shortening

and also to the person that said that mc donalds uses beef fat to cook fries that is extreemly wrong deep friers run on a kind of shortening which is vegetarian or on canola oil wich is made of canola which is not an animal!

Maybe because they aren't in the vegetarian section, just answering the questions from the all catagory section (newest questions listed first). Why would you care if someone gives an uninformed answer? Why are vegetarians so holier than thou?

Well I know plenty of people who are knowledgable about the subject but aren't vegatarians. I guess people ccan do what they want...really. Hey...do you eat the fries at McDonald's or other fast food places? They are usually fried with beef fat.
