SAM-e supplement. It is natural, doesn't have any interaction with anything else you may be taking, and it is available practically everywhere.

Depression is manifested both physically and emotionally. The classic physical signs of depression are headaches, fatigue, digestive problems, hyperactivity, sleeping disorders, loss of concentration, and distorted eating patterns.
Chemicals imbalances in the brain can also be either the cause or effect of depression. Dopamine is the chemical that produces anxiety, stress, nervousness, and aggression. When the level of dopamine is ELEVATED, a person may develop feelings of insecurity, paranoia, and fear. Serotonin is another important chemical in the brain that can affect a person's mental well-being.
A person with LOW serotonin levels displays mood swings, and some sort of compulsion, such as alcoholism, overeating, or being a workaholic, perfectionist, or procrastinator.

Best ways to beat depression is Diet, Exercise, Supplements or Therapy.

Its essential to get the B-complex vitamins, since they work together to balance proper brain functioning.
Fatty acids, such Omega-6, Omega-3.
Magnesium and herbal extracts such:
St. John's wort (Hypericum perforatum in Latin) is a long-living plant with yellow flowers. It contains many chemical compounds. Some are believed to be the active ingredients that produce the herb's effects, including the compounds hypericin and hyperforin.

Most people will tell you St. Johns wart. But be careful when taking this. It is very reactive with other drugs and could cause serious problems when combined. Other popular natural depression remedies include herbs such as Ginseng and Ginkgo, amino acids like l-tyrosine and phenylalanine, and certain nutrients including B vitamins. In general, the evidence behind these remedies is still inconclusive, although Ginseng and Ginkgo have been shown to work as natural depression remedies in the elderly. 5-HTP (5-hydroxytryptophan) is a third natural depression remedy shown by clinical research to treat depression effectively. 5-HTP, an amino acid, allows your body to increase levels of serotonin, a mood-related neurotransmitter, in the brain. Low serotonin levels have been linked to depression, and many prescription antidepressants work by increasing serotonin activity. For most people, taking 50-300mg of 5-HTP per day helps improve mood in just a few weeks without causing side effects. Some websites discuss concerns over the safety of 5-HTP, but these misconceptions are unfounded. In fact, 5-HTP has an excellent safety record, and extensive research has shown it to be one of the safest natural depression remedies available. 5-HTP is a good choice for a natural depression remedy when used alone, but it may work best as a natural depression remedy when combined with St. John's Wort. Both of the sites below are great. Good luck!!

I really do not know but through my personal experience prozac is the only one that ever helped me but it gave me bazarre dreams so I stopped taking it. I am currently on paxil and I don't have neither anything good or bad to say about it. It is ok. Another good antidepressant is effexor. It works pretty good.

St. John's Wort is probably the oldest, and still the best.

Start with B vitamins. They help a lot. Most of us never get enough.

God. Drugs just cover up the pain and depression, but they dont help you get rid of them. Learn to trust in God or find some good friends you can talk to and confide in. No matter how you feel, know that you are the only one responsible for your own happiness, even when circumstances may suck, you are the determining factor to how you are going to feel, and react to them. Good luck to you,
Toni Lynne :)
