It is not necessary that one remains celibate for life. The purpose behind remaining celibate is to preserve the cosmic dormant energies present within us for a nobler goal. If one marries... the precious energy is lost. Even though God Almighty provides a monthly quota of energy to every man and women... the same is not sufficient to travel the spiritual path.
Bible has ordained to practice celibacy. Bible also emphasizes to follow the path of spirituality and gain enlightenment and finally salvation. Reaching the stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) is only possible if we preserve the precious quota of energy provided to us every month. Apart from preserving it... we need to channelize this energy towards a spiritual pursuit of life.
The awakening of the Kundalini which is an essential must on the path of enlightenment is made possible when we channelize the stored energy to awaken the Shahastra Pushpa existing behind our forehead in the brain. The moment the Shahastra Pushpa unfolds fully... one gains enlightenment.
The awakening of the Kundalini, the unfolding of the Shahastra Pushpa announces one has reached the stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi. From now on... one can have a dialogue with God on one-to-one basis. It is the end of the cosmic life cycle for the soul atman within. Having gained enlightenment and salvation (moksha)... our soul atman finally leaves for the kingdom of God (aka Baikuntha in Hinduism).
Here we need remember that to gain enlightenment... absolute celibacy for a minimum period of 12 years is a necessity. Remaining celibate for life is not an essential must. More on celibacy - http://www.godrealized.com/celibacy.html

No where in the Bible does it say that a person should me married, celibate, or have multi-wives. You are taking the verse you quoted out of context. Paul was speaking to a specific person not people in general.
read the site listed below it will give you much insight to the Bible and fish around some it will also show you how you are being mislead as well. go to liberated Christians and learn lots of truths that your preacher will never tell you.

If you are able to be celibate then awesome.
Yes. We believers should stay celibate until we are Married and then all bets are off. The Marriage bed is undefiled. All those kinky thoughts are there so we can have a really cool marriage. It gets weak and thinned out if we share them outside of marriage.
Non believers are not under our law and are free to get freaky with whatever or whoever they wish.
May the Lord richly bless you.

I think you should try and remember that the bible you're reading was translated into English and the translators got a lot wrong. Back in the day staying celebate until a man and woman were married was a way to avoid catching std's (honest!). Marry someone you love with all your heart. Someone who can be your trusted friend and life partner... we weren't meant to be alone.

I remember this. In most ancient spiritual writings besides the Bible. You see very much the same thing. The purpose on earth is to become master of yourself and to conquer illusions by truth and love. It is a higher honor disipline wise on earth to remain celibate yes, but in no way is it required. The real purpose on earth in it's deeper truth is to unite your soul consciously with God, just as Jesus did. Example "I long for the day when they shall all be one, just as you and I are one Father" A prayer by Jesus in the Gospel of John. So to seek this union over seeking marriage is the ultimate honor for a human being. To hold off sex until you reach a higher truer reality is a higher honor than if you do have sex on earth, yes I do believe this.

Most of these rules were set by Paul, who never met Jesus nor was ever part of his inner circle.
Also he was what today people would consider a right wing religious extremist such as Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell, unwilling to allow the slightest flexibility. In other words, Paul was everything that Jesus spoke against during his lifetime.
In other words: Read the four books of Jesus' life.... and then read "Acts and Letters" that follows. You will see that the writings differ like day and night, and the reason many people see the Bible as contradictory.

Some people make themselves eunuchs for the Gospel sake. That is good & a special blessing in that. But God said to be fruitful & multiply. So, according the whole Bible, God blesses the man who finds his woman.
Also, love is everlasting, & that would be sexual acts of love between a husband & wife. In that they are both born of God, born of His Spirit. Because acts of love in the physical connect with the soul/spirit. If they are true soul/spirit mates also.

You removed one piece and you are trying to twist it to suit what you wish to convey.
This is a letter of Paul's written to people in an early church in Corinth.
TO understand what he is actually saying you should have read the whole letter and found out what was going on in this particular city at the time to prompt him to write such a letter.
Also, as Paul states...it is in his opinion that is is best not to marry and he gives reasons why. BUT it is not necessary for everyone and if you wishto marry then he advises you to marry. And he is NOT God. God has not said this. Paul said it to this group of people.
