how do you know when you've found the 'one'?

when you are happy to be with them even if you are doing nothing, when you don't feel uncomfortable around them or stuck for things to say, even saying nothing is fine. when the thought of being with that person long, long into the future doesn't worry or scare you. when they are the first thing you think of in the morning and last thing at night. when you get a thrill from just making them smile. then you know.

I can only agree with all of those who've answered "you just KNOW."

It's true.

I recall having a conversation with my middle sister (my birth order is third of five, with two older sisters and a set of younger brothers who are twins) some years back when I was suddenly single again after having been married for ten years. I was absolutely certain there would never be anyone else, and yet, paradoxically, was afraid I wouldn't recognize him if I DID meet him.

She told me essentially the same thing: you simply know, and no one needs to tell you.

She was right. I won't say how many years passed between our conversation and my remarriage, but I knew--and no one had to tell me.

when i found the one I knew and as time went on I was evenmore sure. So I felt this little flutter in my heart when he touched me and felt more confident when he was with me and 20 some odd years later I still feel that way so if you found the one congrats and consider yourself one of the lucky ones some people never find the one.

Its ok to say "you just know", but that's something you can only say in hindsight. Sometimes"you just know" until you find out,too late, that you were wrong.
One way is the comfortable silence......if you can sit in a room with someone for an hour, in total silence, and not feel awkward....then there is something special between you.
If you feel more for your partner than you feel for yourself, and your partner feels likewise.......i.e.......you would give your life.........then there is something there......
Think what you would do if they were totally ill and couldnt get out of bed for days......what would YOU do....would you wait on them hand and foot???........or would you let them get on with it without much sympathy.........
Then....pretend that YOU are really ill, and find it difficult to do anything.......see what reactions you get, and will your ONE treat you like you would treat them. If not...forget it...........if they do, then that is a massive start........
Trust your feelings.........but a simple test can't harm anyone.........unless they're trying to be someone they're not..........Good luck....

I knew because I felt instantly comfortable, safe and treasured. I felt like i didn;t want to ever be without him.

we met was instant attraction, married within 10 months and am celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary in November.

It sounds stupid, but you just know. You feel completely happy, solid, not scared and those feelings no matter what never fade! It is not a feeling that goes away, and it's weird, you have no doubts, no second thoughts, it is just there.
