Surah 5:76.

I heard the explanation about it, but tell me what you think that it means.
I have seen quite a few people posting it to "justify" what we think of Christians.
Tell me your views please.

No, people are thinking that we hate unbelievers and stuff like that.
They use that surah to justify attacks done against them.

The Holy Quran 5: 72 - 76 The Table

They do blaspheme who say: "God is Christ the son of Mary." But said Christ: "O Children of Israel! worship God, my Lord and your Lord." Whoever joins other gods with God,- God will forbid him the garden, and the Fire will be his abode. There will for the wrong-doers be no one to help. They do blaspheme who say: God is one of three in a Trinity: for there is no god except One God. If they desist not from their word (of blasphemy), verily a grievous penalty will befall the blasphemers among them. Why turn they not to God, and seek His forgiveness? For God is Oft- forgiving, Most Merciful. Christ the son of Mary was no more than an prophet; many were the prophets that passed away before him. His mother was a woman of truth. They had both to eat their (daily) food. See how God does make His signs clear to them; yet see in what ways they are deluded away from the truth! Say: "Will you worship, besides God, something which has no power either to harm or benefit you? But God,- He it is that hears and knows all things."

Hear Jesus

The Bible Luke 4: 8
Jesus answered, "It is written:
' Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.' "

Hear Jonah

The Bible Jonah 1:9
He answered, "I am a Hebrew and I worship the LORD,
the God of heaven, who made the sea and the land."

What Moses wrote

The Bible Exodus 20: 3 - 4
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

The meaning is apparent there is no ambiguity.

Those who say Jesus is God blasphemes.
Those that say trinty are in error, there is one God.
Jesus was a prophet of God, one sent.
Obstinancy or tradition is not an excuse for worshipping
God' prophets over God.

Have a pleasant day

[5:76] Say, "Would you worship beside GOD powerless idols who can neither harm you, nor benefit you? GOD is Hearer, Omniscient."

What's there to figure out sis? Don't worship idols. That's what it means.

EDIT: I think you have the wrong verse. 5:76 talks about not worshipping idols. I'll see if I can find some on how to deal with non-Muslims. Wait ...

:)

I think you meant 5:75 maybe?

The Messiah ['Iesa (Jesus)], son of Maryam (Mary), was no more than a Messenger; many were the Messengers that passed away before him. His mother [Maryam (Mary)] was a Siddiqah [i.e. she believed in the words of Allâh and His Books . They both used to eat food (as any other human being, while Allâh does not eat). Look how We make the Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) clear to them, yet look how they are deluded away (from
the truth).

It seems pretty straightforward though.

Say "Will ye worship, besides Allah, something which hath no power either to harm or benefit you? But Allah,--- He it is that heareth and knoweth all things."
It is against idol worship, and says that God alone is worthy of being worshipped. Christians, Muslims and Jews all worship the same God. These are all monotheistic religions. They are against idol worship.

Well, it just means that, why would we worship a human? A human is just insignificant compared to God. God is more than the Universe, time and space itself, so how can we compare a human to God?
