no there is not a way to change them over. as the mustang has the v-8 and the van more then likely has the v-6. the diffence here being that the bell housing designs were different between these two. If you want to make that swap your going to need more then just a trans. like peddle asy. flywheel and clutch, shifter and such. If you want to make that change, i would suggest going to a parts yard and getting all that is required from a crashed up mustang. including driveshaft and cross member, just in case.

Completely different engine and transmission combo.

Besides, auto should accelerate faster at least initially. Are you sure you're launching it properly?

If you want to do sports shifting, and ruin your tranny, here's the way to do it (as I said, this will abuse your transmission and being a 95 you'll likely end up paying for one soon!)

* Put transmission into 1st (yes, "1")
* Hit throttle when green, try not to spin the wheel
* When almost to engine redline, push transmission to "2"
* When approaching redline again, to to "D"

You should have reached 60 or so already.

However, I don't endorse any sort of street racing. Do this in an empty parking lot for practice only, with NO other cars anywhere nearby. I think street racing is dumb. What you think of it is your own business.

I use automatics when I drag race they are much stronger if you think about it a standard is always transferring power at 90 degree accept in 4th . An automatic uses planetary gears that multiply the torque of the engine and have a straight trough design. A good performance rebuild kit, tork converter, performance chip for tranny if tranny is computer controlled and an aluminum drive shaft and maybe a set of 4:11 rearend gears.
