In biology, evolution refers to the change in a population's inherited traits over consecutive generations, and comes about through mutation (including point mutations, transposition, duplications, translocations, and chromosomal mutations), genetic drift, gene flow, natural selection (whereby traits which aid in survival or reproductive success increase in frequency in the population) and/or artificial selection.
Now summarise the bible in one sentence.

"Those who are fit to survive in their environment, do so and pass on that fitness to their young."
In broad, simple terms that covers everything, whether you are talking about DNA or ideas or cultures. It specifies that you have to be *fit for* a specific set of conditions--an environment--that can change at any time, and hints at the fact that people are more prone to "play God" and change the landscape than they are to adapt to it.
And it emphasizes that all the fitness in the world doesn't mean a thing until or unless you pass it on. Go forth and multiply, that sort of thing.
The only problem with doing it in *ONE* sentence is that it takes the idea totally out of its context. Which is an error in logic in my humble opinion. Evolution works within a context of it being *a product of* the Scientific Method...a system of proof by evidence and peer review. Strip that context away, and like with any other "bad quote" you can make it mean whatever you *want it to*. You can use it to "support" all manner of racist and class-warfare types of political theory....
Or you can construe it as some sort of "grand conspiracy" against everything you "believe" to be true.
But hey, don't let *facts* confuse you here....heaven forbid if anyone should tell you that fairy tales and coloring books are for *kids*. :p *lol* Just saying....

Descent by modification.
Evolution is a big term, many things evolve, not just life, Darwin contributed to human thought far more than just noticing Evolution in living things.
Evolution of life by Natural Selection based on genetic mutation is one example of evolution....

Variation in a population's allele frequency over time.
That's it.
The mechanism that drives the changes in allele frequency can be such things as natural selection, genetic drift, and others, and the effects of the changes in different populations over time, causing them to diverge results in the variety of organisms seen today.

The theory of evolution was and is a brilliant scheme of man that enables and emboldens him to deny the possiblity of responsibility for sin and the impending consequence of eternal judgement promised by the Creator.
Now how 'bout some thumbs up...are you with me? no?...I didn't think so..... Well, I love you anyway.

in case you're debating someone who says that Evolution is going adversarial to the Bible, then in basic terms walk away. you're literally not likely to regulate their options. they have replace logical idea with blind adherence to the Bible as a e book of truth. thankfully, there are in basic terms some human beings like this. We call them fundamentalists. on the different hand, maximum Christians trust that the Bible isn't a historic record, yet a textual content rich with religious allegories that practice them the thanks to stay their lives morally. in truth, many Christians trust in theistic Evolution and locate no contradictions in it. the finest thanks to be certain that's to word that lots of the folk contained in the former testomony lived to be thousands of years. of route, time grow to be no longer a inflexible construct for them (except that they had hugely more beneficial well-being care!). for this reason, it truly is inexpensive to contemplate that the 7 days in Genesis are literally not the 24 hour classes we've come to understand, yet another length of time. because that no human might want to in all likelihood been round then, each and each "day" may have represented a million million years (or extra). genuinely no longer something incorrect with that interpretation. it quite is, except you've self assurance that each little thing grow to be created in actually 7 days as all of us comprehend them. in basic terms walk faraway from human beings like that. it truly is going to easily bring about frustration.

A seemingly random never ending process of genetic mingling and sifting leading to
unpredictable and wondrous results.
( I added seemingly random because most mutations are
either meaningless in 'Dead DNA' strings, and never influence anything and because most other mutations are
actually harmful if not lethal to a member of a species )
( I thought of adding continuous, but I believe there is quite
a lot of credibility in ' Punctuated Equilibrium ' as proposed
by Stephen J. Gould and Niles Eldredge )
