Once , A christian asked a father that "father what was God doing before he created us???"
then the father replied "he was preparing hell for people like you"

i think father said like that because if people ask like that they will find that christianity or catholic people are not correct and then they will try to find the truth.
So for binding people to a religion which is not correct he did like that. don't you think so?

That's just typical of the Catholic religion to scare people to become a Catholic by making them afraid of hell.... and to tell everyone that they will go to hell if they are not a Catholic.

If a priest had an answer like that, he was being either funny or sarcastic in my opinion. His hidden meaning may have been that all are sinners and if you don't get your life right, that is where you are going. But certainly his answer was not very well thought out. God wishes none to parish. He was not sitting around creating hell for people. That is just wrong. God does not make hell. Hell was created by those who rule it. If the person asking the question of the father was being facetious, then maybe the father was being defensively facetious as well. Maybe the priest did not have an answer and this was his reply. It would have been best to have asked the priest to explain himself than having me do it for him. How did he know such a answer and where did he get it.

The question was a good question and the Father replied in the ridiculous way he did, because he wasn't smart enough to come up with an answer.

Even Clergy are not always smart!

The question was valid, the answer was not.

The only real meaning in your question is the calling of priests father... you see the priests claim to live by this book called the bible.. and they say it's the word of god... yet in this bible it is written that no one shall be called father except the one in heaven... so I confronted a priest about this.. and his only answer is that with that reasoning you should not be calling your father father... I say I called my father pop.... but he was also not claiming that he knew the word of god.. So there is meaning here only that priest lie.... another clue.. do you know what the second commandment means???? don't bow down and pray to statues.... this is called an omen you will know them by their works.. and we aren't talking here people who work for god but that wich works for the other side... I think they are refered to as Hipocrites in that book they themselves use.

I see absolutely no problem with the question and every problem with the answer. To me he was just being flip, uncaring and judgemental. What God was doing before we were created is a mystery. However, it is accepted that God always is and always has been. Maybe God was creating other worlds, other civilizations, other life.

no, there was no meaning in the father's answer. This is an old joke. the humor in it relies, apparently, in the self-referential nature of the answer. Please don't try to develop any understanding of Christianity from it, because it is recounted as a joke.

Meaning? None, besides the fact that he just felt like being nasty.

I guess being a member of the cloth doesn't preclude you from being horrible to other people. What a jerk.

No. There is no deeper meaning in his answer.
Most likely his feet hurt, and he was tired after a long day, and a bit grumpy.
I wouldn't have taken him literally, but I'm not a literalist.

Wow, such a loving Christian response to a simple question. Truly, I'm underwhelmed.

Stupidity?

Heaven is where God is and hell is where God is not. Earth are were we are.
