Or for that matter, why give a snake (though apparently one with legs) intimate knowledge of the nature of this fruit?...

Was the snake the being that was made MORE in God's image, and thus was allowed such things and was later punished?... I mean it seems that the serpent would at very least have to be special in that one would assume though it was "punished", and humans were punished, no other animals were, and they can't talk, so was the serpent the most favored of all of God's creations before he tried to help out the others?...

Obviously enough if the reason humans were able to make the "wrong choice" is free will, wouldn't the serpent need free will as well for an omniscient God not to be certain of his actions meaning it wasn't some special gift for man kind?

If we had already sinned in the garden, was there anything to keep our written accounts later on (which apparently had disappeared by the time of Abraham then re-appeared?) from slanting a bit in our favor?...

Seems their image of God is quite the snake.

But if you'd have kept your eyes and mind closed like a good sheep...you'd have never known. Aren't we all better off NOT KNOWING?

Blind Sheep.

Why make a tree that bares fruit that no one is ever supposed to eat?
That was because God wanted to see if He could trust His creations.

Why give a snake (though apparently one with legs) intimate knowledge of the nature of this fruit?
That was the devil in disguise.

Was the snake the being that was made MORE in God's image, and thus was allowed such things and was later punished?
Lucifer was a bad angel who wanted to destroy God's love.

Was the serpent the most favored of all of God's creations before he tried to help out the others?
Nope.

Wouldn't the serpent need free will as well for an omniscient God not to be certain of his actions meaning it wasn't some special gift for man kind?
Yes, that's correct.

If we had already sinned in the garden, was there anything to keep our written accounts later on (which apparently had disappeared by the time of Abraham then re-appeared?) from slanting a bit in our favor?
I'm not sure what you mean, but if you do recall. God had flooded the Earth of wicked people and destroyed a city with fire and brimstone. God was so mad that His creations had become evil and untrustworthy that He went down and taught them the right way and then killed Himself to see if people would be touched by His actions.

On a side note, I strongly believe that the book of Genesis is extremely metaphorical, what with the creation of the universe in seven days.

Lets speak on a common sense approach.

God is the only perfect being. This is the reason God is the Creator and the only thing worthy of worship.

Since God is the only perfect being, all that is not God, i.e all of creation is prone to making mistakes.

God knew this which is why He warned them.

The punishment was given because they chose to listen to something other than God to base their actions on.

As it is, I think God knew exactly how Adam and Eve would respond, which is why He warned them in the first place.

And I think their whole story was just a means to test the entire humanity. Therefore I reject the concept of original sin.

First of all the snake was Satan. He was an angel that tried to overthrow God. Therefore he was cast out of heaven. So God gave him knowledge of this in the beginning because I guess he did not know this was going to happen. But that wouldn't make any sense because God can see everything, and Satan was turned into a snake as a punishment because snakes have to slither over things, which may hurt. As for the tree of knowledge of good and evil I have no clue but it does make for an interesting question.

The fact is, there are things in life that we would be better off not knowing. For instance, I'd rather not know the intimate details of why, and how madmen commit atrocities. I'll trust the good sense that I was born with, to keep me away from being too curious.

As far as free-will goes, the only choices presented by the world are; accept/reject the way we are. Limited answers, even fewer questions.

I believe that the Fruit is not literal but is a symbol. The Fruit represents the relationship that Adam and Eve were to have after the were married, with God's blessing. Lucifer is the first angel that God created. Lucifer is not really a snake, but is portrayed that way because that is what his spirit looks like. Lucifer felt that God loved Adam and Eve more than him, like if your parents don't give you as much attention as they did before they had a new child, so you feel jealous. To Adam and Eve he was not ugly, but rather he was handsome. Lucifer and Eve had a relationship, which became a sexual relationship. Eve felt guilty for doing this so she also had a sexual relationship with Adam. So in this way she shared the Fruit with Adam.

I really think the story of Adam and Eve is just that, a story. A parable or alagory. I think basically what happened was the Eve knew she had a choice. She could remain immortal in the Garden or she could choose to become human. She made the choice for all of us. She chose humanity and now we all get to experience it. I don't think she was "tempted". I think she made a choice. Simple as that. Instead of blaming her, I praise her. It takes courage to do what you know is the correct thing to do, for the greater good of all, than to do what is easy.

Okay, I see you have no knowledge of what really happened in the Garden. There was no fruit involved, I assure you. I study in the manuscripts, and the benefit far outweigh
only studing from the Bible, because you get the fuller, deeper meaning being conveyed by the writer, whereas in the Bible, many times the fuller thought does not come across when a verse is translated.
Anyway, Let me just give it to you straight:
(be advised this is not normally taught in the churches).
When Adam and Eve sinned, remember that they tied fig leaves together? What did they make - a mask to hide their mouths because they ate fruit? No, they made aprons to cover their private parts - those parts that participated in the sin that they were ashamed of. Satan himself was that tree of know.of good/evil, and he beguiled Eve, which means "wholly seduced". I figure you get where this is going, right?
Yep, Eve had sex with satan, and Adam participated in it. They were innocent and obviously naive, but God told them not to even touch that tree. That word "touch" is actually "naga" in the manuscripts, and it means touch, as in to lie with a woman in sexual activity (or man).
Satan did this in his first attempt (in this flesh age) to pollute that pure line of lineage, that thru Eve, down the generations womb-to-womb would come the Christ.
If he polluted that line, satans seed would be an inherent part of the lineage of Christ.
Pretty slick, huh?
Yes, Satan does have free will (or did). He
was created for a position of high authority,
but he wanted (and still wants) to be in the position of Christ.
God told Eve he would multiply her conception; He did; by 2, exactly. Eve was pregnant with twins. One pregnancy of two seperate fathers. Abel was Adams son, but Cain was satan's son; When the Bible says that Eve bore Cain and then again bare his
brother Abel, that word "again" is actually "continued in labor". When you have a child and then your labor continues and you have a second child, what does that mean? Twins. Both brothers gave their offerings to God at the exact same time, because they reached the age of accountability at the exact same time: twins.
The two brothers hated each other, and it was because they were of different fathers.
Cain killed Abel, and when God thru him out of the garden, a mark was placed on Cain.
Ever hear of the "mark of the beast"? Well, this is the marks beginning, right here on Cain, the mark of his father, the devil.
Cain went to the city of Nod, which is where the 6th day creation of all the races lived, and he married. Cain had lots of decendants called "kenites", which fully translated means "sons of Cain". These Kenites even made it thru the flood of Noah;
you will find them alive and well and doing scribe-work for the Tribe of Judah, in
1chronicles 2:55.
The fact that satan has actual seed, or blood children on this earth today is simply not taught in the churches. Theres alot that isn't taught in the churches. I mean alot.
You said "if we had already sinned in the garden" - understand that it is a misconception and misunderstanding of the Word, to say that we all pay for Adam and Eve's sin: WE DO NOT. We pay only for our own sins; if we commit a like sin of someone else, we pay for that, but never, ever do any of us pay for anyone else's sin,
and that includes Adam and Eves sin.
As you can probably tell, this rabbit hole goes far deeper than most realize.

The story of Adam and Eve is one of the most important in Scripture, because if someone is taught lies about what truly happened in the garden, they will not be able to understand most of the rest of the messages in the Bible. They get all mixed up, and even seem to find inconsistancies.
If they learned the truth from the beginning,
the Word would flow beautifully for them.
I call it the fault of those behind the pulpits who have a responsibility to teach Gods Word, and yet only teach mans words, which make void the Word of God.

"What was it that Adam ate that he wasn't supposed to eat? It wasn't just an apple. It was the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. The subtle message? 'Get smart and I'll f*** you over' sayeth the Lord. God is the smartest, and he doesn't want any Competition. Is this not an absolutely anti-intellectual religion?"

ok, The "fruit" was the knowledge of good and evil. In other words the lie the serpant told was in reality " you can be like god, deciding for yourself what is good and what is evil" That means that the temptation was the ability to forget what god says what was right and wrong, and make up our own definition.
