Yes, I am a Mormon. I have been my entire life. My whole family is as well. I love the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and feel that it gives me purpose and direction in my life.

Yup.. I'm LDS. I live in *gasp* Utah. And just across the lake from "happy valley". Neither my hubby or I have extra horns, and no he only has one wife. I don't think he could handle more of us!! Although sometimes I think it would be easier for me if we still practiced polygamy. I agree with your statement. There are way too many people that don't understand us, and just believe what they are told, or what they have heard about us. I always say "Does it really matter to your salvation what I believe?". Who cares? So we are different. Let it be!!!

Welcome to all religions. I have been with the Mormon brothers for several months. I have read your Book of Mormons and have seen some films. I find the Elders to be very faithful men and you are sincere about what you have been taught. I found no evil in your faith. Your prayers are sincere and are of Christian base. The only exception I would offer is that I would prefer that the door to door ministry would be more about Christ than trying convince others that your faith is the right one to belong. It seems the discussion is more about teaching about your sect of religion and history than the words of Jesus and how to live by them.
I wish you well and hope you ask more questions which you have not done. If you are secure in your faith, you do not need to be defensive. It is not wrong to be a Mormon. I hope your faith brings you to God. The more who turn to God, the better the world will be. God Bless, Rev. TomCat

I would not be among your number. This is no stupid remark that you reference. I am not a Mormon because I did some reading before I joined. In reading the LDS's own writings, I learned that Joseph Smith is not a true prophet of God.

At 14, you haven't been exposed to the more controversial aspects of morgdom, and your parents expect you to "Follow the Prophet", etc. Your post appears to be looking for more individuals just like you who are in Young Men/Young Women This isn't a good place to find them; go visit other stakes. This "Y!A" environment tends to be adversarial and confrontational, if not abusive, especially when religious Morg controversy is presented.

I don't want to suggest you're out of your 'league', but the internet is not a good way to make friends.

Please be careful.

Yup... born and raised... the myth that Mormons have horns isn't the only "story" out there... and some of them are truly laughable!!!

And, of course, there's always the questions about the temple- what happens there. You'd be surprised at what people speculate about the temple ceremonies!! (Remember that Satan's favorite tactic is to take the truth and twist it into something ugly and repulsive...)

FYI--
The scripts for all the temple ceremonies are copyrighted- which means that not only is it illegal to use them without permission from the church, but there is also a copy available... in the Library of Congress, I think, to anyone who want to read them.

The only time I get uptight about people spouting crap about us is when they're trying to convince others that what they're saying is true... I don't mind the people who politely say, "I disagree." It's the people who say, "You're all evil and going to he--!!!" or who say we aren't Christian...

"Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam, to shine for Him each day.
In every way, try to please Him, at home at school, at play!"

"Jesus said love everyone, treat them kindly too.
When your heart is filled with love, others will love you."

Well I am not but I wanted to say that you are totally correct. People get far to up tight about these things. I'm pagan, I practice Teutonic Majick and now you are probably going to be sick.

My point is that people over react when there is no need

I am not Mormon but here is some links that might help you

Yes,
Mormon born and raised, not too high on any religions beliefs though, including Mormon, but I still claim to be a Mormon.

I'm LDS also. I'm 47 and still don't have my horns. ;-)

Just ignore or smile at the, "stupid remarks." You'll be much happier that way.
