the most obvious answer is Joan of Arc who lived in a time when women in the military was a huge no-no, female leaders in the military was unheard of, yet thats what she became and led an army to victory, plus she challenged the authority by putting the dauphin (former king) back onto the throne, that was a main part of her mission, that and kickin the English out of France

St. Philomena. Absolutely refused to marry the Emperor who desired her for she had promised to be a virgin and a spouse of Christ. For this refusal she was tortured and imprisoned by the Emperor (or king, im not sure). Her parents were distraught because she refused the king's 'excellent' offer and tried to convince her to accept the marriage proposal but she had to refuse even her beloved parents though it hurt her greatly to do so. She was their only child. While in prison, Our Lady appeared to her to encourage her to persevere. The little saint was finally tortured and killed by the king's men. Her calmness in the midst of these persecutions converted many a spectator.
