Neither religion nor spirituality is a requirement for the other. Spirituality is integral to one's self and is mostly about personal growth. Religion is external to one's self and is mostly about accepting unsubstantiated superstitious doctrines as if they were true facts. In the real world, spiritual people often recognize the value of religion, but religious people frequently deny their own spirituality.

Cardinal Richeleau of The Three Musketeers was a great example of religiosity without spirituality.
And yes many people are spiritual but not religious these days.

[Edit] Spirituality doesn't guarantee relationship with God. For that matter, neither does religiosity.

Yes, unfortunately, someone can be religious but not be spiritual because they are a certain religion, but they don't, in their hearts, be spirtiual. Many people come home from a day of prayer and Bible reading, but they immediately start sinning again and again, just in one day. No, someone cannot be spiritual without being religious.

Yes & yes.

Religion is a patern of works to follow. Anybody can be religious.

A spiritual person is born of the spirit & follows after the Spirit & not after the religious letter. The Spirit is personal direction & the old familiar way may need to make a different turn or do a different way according to following after the fruits of the Spirit; faith, hope, love, joy, peace, patience, etc...

I believe spiritual people do not consider themselves religious. Religious people consider themselves spiritual. I feel Christians should be in the first group because religion encompasses all groups and Christianity is separate from the frey.

Hmmm I don't believe so. Being spiritual and religious are interconnected. However, you may have someone who THINKS or BEHAVES like they're religious/spiritual infront of others, but they really are not. This is what we call a hypocrit.

In my personal view... yes to both.

I have meet many who claim to be religious (not just Christians), but do not even attempt to live their lives as "good" people.

Many people who claim to be spiritual subscribe to a belief that is not covered by the established religions. However they try to be "good" people based on their personal beliefs.

I consider mystelf a spiritual Christian, but i'm not religious in the sense that i'm offended by any little off color statement or joke. I don't want to be around people like that. the're a bore and holier than thou.
