Are the followers of Jehovah self righteous- which of the two men in the Temple are they? serious answers please.

Hello everyone,sorry but my question is not too clear. I feel that the JW's are judgemental and that the parable of the two men in the Temple show us that one of the men just admitted he was a sinner and did not judge the other man. I am a Christian and certainly do not feel left out! It shows how we can take each other out of context

By being judgemental I mean that a member can be excommunicated for not repenting. How can anyone know what the person has done. Obviously some sins only they would know.

Have done some study of other faiths, was just implying that Jehovah was merciful, compassionate, omnipresent etc.

Yes my sister-in-law is a JW and we get on famously. She has told me that some are more strict than others. They did not attend my daughters wedding service but came to the reception afterwards.

I'm sorry you have that view of Jehovah's witnesses - I myself am one and certainly dont think i'm better than anyone else i know and hope that i also will be shown mercy by God, the bible says that God doesn't want anyone to perish but wants all to attain salvation 1 Tim 2 .3,4.That is my wish too. Lets be reasonable about this - there are about 7 million JW's so amongst that many people you are bound to find some individuals who are self righteous but the vast majority are nice people.The cong i'm in is full of nice down to earth types .If you lived anywhere near pembrokeshire, wales i'd invite you to come see for yourself!!!!

Jehovah's Witnessess are not judgemental.
We are just the messengers that's all.
We all sin ( literally, miss the mark)
Only Jehovah can judge
All JWs do is to point out God's standards as set out in the Bible. It's up to us if we choose to follow them or not. We all have free will.
Maybe you ought to get to know a few, you'll find that your preconceived ideas about us may be wrong.
Also, isn't it a bit biased of you to make broad-sweeping statements like that? All JWs are self-righteous/judgemental?
Do you know me?
Self righteous people wouldn't sacrifice their time & efforts to try and save lives which is what JWs do whether you agree with them or not.
We are just the messengers.

The person has usually confessed their wrong themselves & has shown no repentance.
If they dont confess, only themselves & God would know so how is discipline to be administered? Their conscience usually affects them enough to confess.
Of course we all sin - but something you could be disfellowshiped for would be a major thing (like immorality for instance) & even then it would be a last resort to d/ship & after no repentance is shown.
It is a loving provision which protects the congregation from bad association & is a loving thing for the person themselves as if they are not corrected they will be on the wrong path which could ultimately mean losing their life.
Matthew 7:13,14
Many d/shiped persons do eventually show repentance & are welcomed back with open arms.
This is not being judgemental.

Moses was given a name YHWH. Jehovah and Yahweh are translation (adding vowels) of that name. God (in English) and Allah (in Arabic) currently refers to that name.
Are the followers of God self righteous. No. They are made righteous by God, not the other way around. If you have any doubts, consult the prophets.

Perhaps you feel "Left Out?"
Perhaps it is "By Your Choice?"
Perhaps you have something "Against JEHOVAH?"
All of us, Born Again felt the same way, "Once!"
That is because we Are Sinners that NEED A Savior!"

Jehovah 'Sends' Peace or brings/gives peace or serenity.(Judges 6: 24) is the closest you are going to get to "merciful".
Using the word merciful you seem to have a bit of the moslem religion or training in you.
Matthew
30: And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David.
31: And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David.
32: And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you?
33: They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.
34: So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.
As you see no one "comes unto the father except through Christ" and Christ is merciful.
As you see.
People that see their error and remain unrepentant of heart and spirit are the ones that are kept at arms length.
