He wanted to set a precedent that the pursuit of knowledge is a big no-no as it would lead to the realisation that he doesn't exist.

Yeah Right U got it....NOT!!!! Try reading Scripture if U really want the Truth!!! Then U would know that A&E were personally taught by GOD EVERY DAY & had FULL KNOWLEDGE that what they were going to do was CONTRARY to Gods' teachings!!! God created Free Will & A&E FREELY CHOSE to Disobey, just as U are Freely Choosing to excuse Ur actions by claiming God made U Defective because U Choose to live in a Sinful state!!! When U stand before God U won't be Judged for Ur "Works" here on earth, rather for whether or not U accepted christ, so get with the Program Dude!!! John

God is not a very fair god. Being omniscient, he knew that they would fail the test of the tree. So all this was allowed by him, even sanctioned. My main beef with God, is the fact that our temptations are much more complex, then the abstinence from the "tree". They had it easy, Adam & Eve, and they were perfect humans. We get the hard sins to resist, and we are all very imperfect, even born in sin. So, if He is still around, I guess we are not going to be getting along too well on the day of judgement.

Yes, according to the Text, God is angry when Adam and Eve eat the fruit of Knowledge. But I think the story is better if read metaphorically.

The story is really about how we grow and learn, and how once we learn things we can't go back. Like how once we've seen our parents as fallible, we can no longer have the comfort of being a child.

Adam and Eve were created perfect and they were commanded to be fruitful and fill the earth and make the entire planet like the Garden of Eden. They were told that they would not die as long as they obeyed YHWH's one command... to avoid the fruit of one tree.

satan used the naivity of the newly created humans to mount an insurrection against YHWH. prior to his tempting Eve, satan was an angel. he became the devil when he deceived Eve.

had satan failed in his power play to get Adam and Eve to sin, YHWH could have rightfully destroyed satan at that time

humans would be eternal and never have death and we would have filled the earth and expanded the garden to cover the entire planet as YHWH commanded the first couple to do

but since satan *was* successful in convincing humans that we didnt need God's Kingdom, that we could have our own kingdoms/governments and rule ourselves, YHWH had to give humans the time necessary to figure out that we can not rule ourselves and that human politics/governments are and will always be a failure and that the only answer to mankinds problems is YHWH's Kingdom of peace and love as demonstrated by His only-begotten Sons teachings and examples.

The Adam and Eve operation is an analogy.

There is a much deeper meaning to the story.
There are others on Y/a that have a glimpse of what is actually talked about.
It has to do with the very very distant past.

I don't believe that for a minute. The entire beginning of the Bible was made up of stories that had been handed down through word of mouth, for generations. Over time, stories change...things are omitted or added (not on purpose) and you end up with a very colorful...but not highly accurate rendition of what actually happened.

I hardly think God would allow a supernatural creature to lure a naive human into doing something that stupid, and then blame the human.

No, God created us in his image and with a will of our own. We chose to sin...we can not blame it on ignorance. Maybe the woman was tricked...but she was tricked by her desire to be God and Adam was not tricked at all...he knew what he was doing and chose to sin against God.

No, God is not created in man's image. God was not created at all...he was, is, and always will be.

needless to say He felt like He wouldn't have punished all mankind for the sin of the 1st guy because of the fact He sent His only son to die for us, all of us inclusive of you and me so as that we've forgiveness of sins, no longer merely that sin that Adam and Eve did, yet each sin we commit to any extent further is already forgiven. that doesn't sound like punishment to me.

According to the Bible, Eve was deceived but Adam was not; he made the choice to do what God commanded them not to do. All actions have consequences.

It wasn't ignorance. It was a willful decision to believe the serpent rather than God.
