I am looking for another battery for my Panasonic DMC-TZ1. and I have been looking on eBay for one. A lot of people are selling them, and at low prices too. But a lot of people are selling ones that are labelled "1300mAh" and some are at "1000mAh"

The battery that came with my camera is 1000mAh. SO is a 1300mAh battery safe to use with my camera??

Thanks

Darren

The mAh number indicate the capacity of the battery - the higher the number the longer the battery will last (more shots) in your camera. In this case, the 1300 mAh battery would last about 30% longer.

mAh is milli ampere hours - how much power the battery can supply and nothing more. It's only an approximate number though, generally the higher the number the more capacity the battery has.

The 1000mAh battery can supply 1Amp of current for a period of an hour. Where as the 1300mAh can supply 1.3Amps for one hour or 2.6 Amps for half hour, 650mA for 2 hours, 325mA for 4 hours and so on...It's only an approximate number as the batteries age, how well it's cared for, ambient temperature and all sorts can affect the performance of it.

The 1300mAh is perfectly safe. The camera will only draw as much power as it requires. In theory it should last longer and take slightly longer to charge again but as long as the voltage is the same it's fine!

Generally, a higher mAh number simply indicates a newer or more expensive version of a battery. These don´t discahrge higher power surges to the camera so they won´t damage anything - but they WILL hold their charge longer.
It´s a good thing.

The higher the mAh the better. 2600 are really good.
