I have a JVC (AR-7000) installed in my car and everything works fine including perfect reception of FM radio. When I try to tune in any AM station it is just pure static. Even the AM stations I know that originate very close by, won't come in at all. I have checked my connections and everything seems to be fine. The confusing part is that the FM reception is perfect. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Paul

What kind of car? I've seen this often in vehicles with in-glass antennas or rooftop "bee-sting" antennas; it's common when replacing the head unit in newer Volkswagens, for example. In these cases there's an antenna amplifier that needs to be activated. Usually it's just a matter of hooking up the power antenna lead in the stock harness, but in a Volkswagen a special antenna adapter is required with a power lead built into it.

If your car isn't equipped with that type of antenna, it may still have needed an antenna adapter which may be defective.

Your expert installer might have left the antenna unplugged. in the different case it got here unplugged on an identical time as setting up it. i've got seen this formerly. The AM won't artwork with out an antenna however the FM will.
