They would have to be, they keep posting the same point in a slightly different question over and over again. More so it seems than religious groups. YA athiests are forever trying to convert others. YA athiests are forever attacking everyone elses beliefs. YA athiests cannot accept the fact that others could possibly have different views to what they have. They just keep posting and posting and posting to try and convince others. They do this ... religiously.

Believe it or not, I'm not particularly religious. I just dislike bigotry. The questions athiests ask aren't in a search for knowledge or to foster an even discussion, they are purely an attack on peoples' religious beliefs, implying they must be stupid to believe. A form of bullying. I dislike bullies. Do onto others, and all that.

..."As long as you keep posting misconceptions about evolution"... sorry, I couldn't find anywhere that I've posted those. I do like to argue against believing everything scientists tell you though, only because they've been wrong so many times in the past. Obviously though, everything they say now in this modern age is 100% correct and will never be proven wrong...

The Seal Of Orichalcos, have you actually read any of your posts ? Like the one where you complain about personal attacks. Or the many where you talk about freedom of speech ? So, it's freedom of speech, but only for wannabe athiests ? Sorry, but that is the typical athiest behaviour I'm talking about, dare I say it, Holier than thou...

"Now, atheism is not a set of beliefs, there is no book, no dogma. All it means is that someone does not believe in god(s). Talk about having to repeat myself... " seems to me that's a belief, that God doesn't exist. Nobody said a religion had to have a big set of rules, one will do... "Therefore atheism cannot be a religion" ..ahem , "and cannot logically have "conversion" as such as a goal. Most atheists just want to present cohesive arguments "... no, they just want to present the same argument, that people who believe must be wrong(and stupid) as it's not logical. Wonderful thing logic, keeps you warm at night, helps you when you are feeling down, brings people together, teaches us to do unto others... sorry, got a bit confused there.

I wouldn't call them religious zealots, but they can be zealots. They have no belief in any religion, no belief in God or any higher power than themselves. In some cases, as is usual with a lot of bullies, they feel they have to press their point in order to "help" others to come around to their way of thinking. It is as if they don't have enough confidence in their non-belief and need to "convert" others to their non-believing, in order to make it more legitimate.
And in this case, where you say they do this...religiously, it is more like saying they repeat it over and over (since they have no religion) (except maybe in foxholes)

Actually, as an atheist and from my impression of other atheists, we don't believe we have the answers to everything. We don't jump to conclusions based on insufficient evidence in order to explain the many things we do not know so the difference is that atheists are completely fine with not knowing while most religious people seem to be so uncomfortable with the concept that they need a simplistic explanation so that they can relax with their "knowledge". I'm not saying all atheists are sensible or that all religious people aren't but in general my experience is that religious people act more sure than evidence allows and therefore are claiming to know more than they do. Atheists claim to know a few things that happen to disprove some popularly held religious beliefs but they really only argue against a religious assumption of a god. They don't claim to prove he doesn't exist. If the claim of knowledge above and beyond the evidence is your measure of ego then religious people have a far larger ego in general and I would not say most atheists are "almost as bad" although some are.

Are we drinking to atheism as a religion yet?
First of all, theist ---> atheist - spell check is a wonderous thing.
Now, atheism is not a set of beliefs, there is no book, no dogma. All it means is that someone does not believe in god(s). Talk about having to repeat myself...
Therefore atheism cannot be a religion, and cannot logically have "conversion" as such as a goal. Most atheists just want to present cohesive arguments - if someone listens that's great, if not, heh, there's always television.
Edit: Religion
1. a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.
2. a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects: the Christian religion; the Buddhist religion.
3. the body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices: a world council of religions.
5. the practice of religious beliefs; ritual observance of faith.
My point is that atheism does not imply an alternative to a belief in god(s), merely the absence of that specific belief. The actual nature of the beliefs of individuals who describe themselves as "atheist" varies widely.
I think you'll find that there are just as many religious people who are only here to pick fights, and who seem to think that they have a monopoly on spirituality. The latter is surely not true.

No...because atheism isn't not in any way shape or form a religion, ya twit.
You are a liar, atheist don't try and convert anybody.
We know there are people so ignorant that they believe in silly god fantasies.
We ain't trying to convince you. Carl Sagan said once: " You can't convince a believer of anything; for their belief is not based on evidence, it's based on a deep seated need to believe."
We are just pointing out the shear stupidity of your religion.

Atheists do not convert people they wake them from their religious stupor.
Atheist attack people's religious beliefs because religious people think they have the right to make people live as they do through the creation of legislation.
You talk about 'different views'. REALITY has only ONE view. Atheists are pointing out what that view is, anything else is simply living in delusion land. If religious people kept their religion at home and in church that would be one thing. We atheists are fed up with how religious people are ruining the planet with their 'Waiting for Jesus', 'My God's better than your false god' crusading, culture destroying, anti-freedom, right-wing, geo-political theocratic nonsense!
When you people grow up, we'll let up.

Atheists are generally in agreement on what we believe, while there are countless different sects of Christianity, and they cannot even agree on the fundamental points of their religion.
Our biggest point is that belief in unprovable superstition is pointless. If your faith was so bulletproof, then none of our comments would affect you. The fact that you've asked this question tells the world that someone here -- most likely an atheist -- has challenged your faith in a way that you weren't expecting, and cannot defend.

Way to go with the generalizations jerk. I don't try to convert anybody. I ask different question about different things. Not all Atheists and whatnot are the same as one another. I just ask questions to gain insight. At the end of the day all that I want is to be left alone. If anything it's the Christians particularly the Fundamentalist/Evangelicals who use this forum to try to convert people to their way of thinking and believing.

yes, its just as annoying when they proseletyze as when any other person does it, but one of the drawbacks of living in a free society is that people have free speech, which means that all you can really do is ignore them.
or, of course, you could just start spewing bible verses. they hate this, and will probably give up on you if you do it. and its also kind of funny.
