The term 'Messiah', translated as 'Christ', is not a name but a title. Is there a single Prophecy where it says that the name of the Messiah will be JESUS, and that his mother's name will be MARY, that his supposed father will be JOSEPH THE CARPENTER; that he will be born in the reign of HEROD THE KING, etc. etc.? No! There are no such details! Then how can you conclude that those 'thousand' Prophecies refer to Jesus (Peace be upon him)?"

For the faithful Jew, one of the most important events described by God in the Tanakh is the coming of the Messiah to assert God’s authority on earth, to redeem His chosen to Himself.

For Jesus to truly be the Messiah described in the Old Testament, He would have to fulfill every Messianic prophecy. There is a significant amount of biblical evidence which can lead us to only one conclusion, Jesus is the Messiah. He claimed it. It was claimed by others of Him. But more importantly, He demonstrated it by His fulfillment of every messianic prophecy we know of, leaving no room for doubt. The mathematical probability that a person could fulfill even the prophecies listed here is astronomical, yet Jesus did it!

First we have Joseph, to whom an angel appeared in a dream, and said "But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. " Mt 1:20-23

Proper names should not be translated into other names. Jesus was not His name, nor has it ever been. That would be like taking the name George Bush and changing it to Jorge Machce. Makes no sense does it? Another example is the proper name of a city. You would not call New York by any other name just because you went to another country. Bush is still Bush in Japanese, or German, or Swahili and New York is still New York whether in Russia, or China, or Mexico. The fact that man has made changes does not in any way change what the scriptures teach.

Because those thousands of prophicies where fulfilled by him. In Matthew, it think, after about every other thing that Jesus does it says so that the Scriptures might be fulfilled ( ok, every other thing is an exageration but it does say this a lot).

The Bible teaches that Jesus is God come to earth as a human being. If God is all-powerful He can come to earth as a human being, can't He?
Here is a verse that talks about a son born who will rule forever and His Name is Wonderful Counselor (that means He has all wisdom), Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.7 Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.

And here are verses that speak of His suffering and dying for our iniquities (sins):

He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.
We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Isaiah 53:2-6

You would need to remember that Jesus is the anglisized version of the Hebrew Yeshua, (which means "YHWH is salvation). Any prophesy about Jesus in the hebrew scriptures would be about Yeshua. As for other scriptures, certain buddhist scriptures mention Isa-Masih (as a possible reference to Jesus http://www.tombofjesus.com/2007/home.html). So if your looking for his name appearing in scripture, you got to be looking for the right name.

Green,
The prophesies fit only ONE PERSON. That person was/is Jesus Christ of Nazareth. "Jesus" means "Yahweh saves," or "Yahweh will save" (Matt. 1:21). This is what the prophesies also point to. I have no idea why you want to attempt to change any real Christian from following GOD's SON to follow a false prophet but this is the wrong way to do it. Our FATHER expects HIS SON to be the ONE we follow... and we do. Have a great day and a wonderful LORD's DAY.
Thanks,
Eds, A simple Christian

Why are you Muslims hating on Jesus?

I'll do you one better: Why don't YOU find one passage in the bible where it said Jesus raped a little girl? Or, aside from fighing persecution, authorized and spoke of violence and war?

Please. I challenge thee.

Furthermore...that sacred tome o'death you call the koran, well, if that was mohammad's "greatest miracle" then he is one terrible prophet.

Wash. Rinse. Repeat....

Now think about it....if the prophets had foretold that the name of the promised Messiah would be Jesus,.....how many Jewish families would have chosen that name for their sons?

It never specified a name.

However, the sheer number of the prophecies that Jesus fulfilled (I think it was over 150) would make it kind of obvious that he is the subject of them.

Isaiah 7:14 :
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: the virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, will call him Immanuel.
