Oh sure. There would be nobody feeding the poor. No medicine in Africa for HIV. No people visited in nursing homes, hospitals, and jails. What a grand world it would be.

Imagine

John Lennon

Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...

Imagine there's no countries,
It isn't hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...

Imagine no possessions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of men,
imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer,
but I'm not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one..

ALL religion is man made trash.

Religion is man's attempt to get in good with GOD BY THEIR OWN EFFORTS.

Turn from religion and turn to GOD through THE LORD JESUS CHRIST,

JESUS IS GOD

believe in the LORD JESUS

GOD so loved the world that HE gave HIMSELF >>> JESUS

i won't think of it - The impression of religion on historic previous is only too super to tell with any certainty what the international may well be like had it existed. And if for some reason it ceased to exist, it may well be perplexing to work out how human beings might behave - does faith relatively carry out the best in some human beings and positioned to chill out undesirable components, or is it purely a conformation the guy makes to an ideology they believe? i won't tell.

Hello cousin,

By "religion", I would imagine you are referring to Religious Empires of the Church variety. A few of my dictionaries include a rather enlightening definition of "religion" - Religion is a fixation on a person, place, thing, idea, philosophy, or diety. Although usually associated with a fixation on a diety, it is not limited to such. Funk and Wagnals example the following: "To him, his work was his religion."

Fixations can be rather nice for the fixated one. It is a real comfort to be so fixated that you can ignore any other distractions such as "other people" "new information" or "facts" . ("Those stubborn little things called facts"- John Adams)

Then there are the ones who come along and corrupt the fixations of the weak and not so bright. -- We might think of it as the "spawning of Religious Empires".

Over the centuries, Christians have founded hospitals, hospices, schools (especially for the poor), soup kitchens, food pantries, charitable organizations such as the Salvation Army, clothing and furniture storehouses for those who lost their possessions in disasters, and contributed to emergency relief programs.

They give of their time and money to help those in need by volunteering in and donating to the organizations that I've already named. Sick children, elderly people, the dying, victims of disasters, the homeless, and the helpless have all been the beneficiaries of religion's practical aspects.

Can I imagine the world without those who genuinely follow the tenants of their faith? Yes, I can. . .but it certainly isn't the beautiful place that you'd like us to believe it would be.

Why do you need to imagine it? Just take a look around you and you'll see the world you so much want. Isn't it beautiful?

I read this mornings paper and I found no stories of Christians murdering people. But there where plenty of stories regarding men who just wanted a little more than the next guy, who did.

I'm not a big fan of religion, but I am a big fan of Christianity. Buddihsm, Hinduism, and Islam have some positive aspects also. My fear is that if there were no religion, there would be no laws against murder or other hateful crimes. Most government rules were guided by one relgion or another. There also might not be forgiveness. I do understand your point, however. It would be nice if people could get along without having to be guided by religion.

I expect people would find something else to squabble and war over.

It is sad though all the people over the centuries who have been killed in the name of religion.

It would be a 1000 times better if everybody followed the same religion, no religious wars and yet there are still morals.

Instant solution for the problems in Iraq, Iran, Palestine, Kashmir, Bosnia, Chechniya -- that would be awesome indeed. Unfortunately, it won't happen.

Yes, but think of the great war that must preceed this golden age of enlightenment and peace. We have a long way to go. Much fighting is yet ahead.
