I work full-time as an LPN. I am getting married this year to my fiance of 6 years. We plan on starting a family within he next few years. I would love to be able to stay home with my child while they are young. All of our family lives 2-3 hours away and I don't feel comfortable leaving my child with a stranger. Especially when the child is too little to speak up if something isn't going right. Do you have any suggestions on how to make money as a stay at home mom or what has worked for you if you are a stay at home mom. Thank you!

Hi,
I'm also a stay at home mom. It's a lot of work. I'm always exhausted. I've done lots of research to find a job that I can do from home. I found that doing network marketing is the way to go especially at this day and age. Telecommuting is still very rare. I have an Engineering degree and an MBA and still can't find a telecommuting job. So I decided to join with Arbonne which makes great products and even makes baby products that work wonder for my daughter's eczema.
You can e-mail me if you have any questions about that. Also you should join www.babycenter.com and you'll get a lot of community help.
Hope that helps.

Staying at home is the best thing you can do for your future children. I stay at home with my toddler boys and love it. There have been some great responses regarding utilizing your current skills/education to be on call for doctors or to be a nurse that checks on elderly patients (if you could really bring your child).

Being a nurse, I am sure you can understand how frustrating it must be to have a sick child. This is how I found my part time work at home business...my toddler boys go to school part time in the morning and were getting sick every two weeks-fever, ear infections, colds, you name it. I found out about a juice called MonaVie. It is all natural and has healing properties for many ailments. My sons now drink 1-2oz everyday and now they are no longer getting sick! Because of this, I became a distributor and am making good money helping other mothers keep their kids/babies (over 3 months) healthy and get all their daily fruit servings! I do this while my kids are in playgroup WITH me. It is the best ever and I do this on MY schedule. If you are interested in learning about MonaVie you can go to MonaVieMommies.com to learn how this business is perfect for stay at home moms. You would be a great fit for this home business because you are a nurse and you can see the benefit of children not getting sick or needing antibiotics every two weeks like mine were!

Whatever you decide (and luckily you have many options with your background!) regarding making money while staying at home-you have already made the best decision to stay at home once you have children! I would be happy to answer any questions you have about staying at home-we all have to stick together!

Since your an LPN, try to get involeved with the VNA (visiting nurses association). You could get some regular clients (mostly elderly) living alone at home who will need blood draws, BP etc. and you can take your baby with you. I think if you establish a working relationship with a company before a baby they won't mind you doing it when you do have a baby, not to mention the elderly would love a visit from a baby! I'm not a nurse but the nurses that visit my grandmother seem to be on their own schedule and don't take too long at the house.

A great job for stay-at-home, rather work-at-home moms, is medical transcription. With your training as an LPN, you already know medical terminology. However, you will still need additional training to become a well-qualified medical transcriptionist.

Medical transcriptionist offers flexibility in work hours and well-trained excellent medical transcriptionists make good money.

CareerStep is a good school that offers quality, affordable online/correspondence training for medical transcription. The link to obtain more information is below:

Being a stay-at-mom parent is a full time job if you are going to do the very best job. Your child deserves your full attention.

Since you have skills as an LPN I would suggest working a few nights or weekends when your husband is around to parent your child.
