Sometimes i think it can be really funny when you get one on purpose. I also think it is not funny that some people use the reports to censor other viewpoints.

Amen David

I don't mind getting them, if I was wrong...however, to get them because someone has pegged you is a different story.

I had to close on account because of it

It"s annoying when you get a violation for something stupid like "personal communications". Those are the only ones Ive ever had, and it wasn't doing any harm to anyone.

I think Yahoo should stop deleting peoples accounts altogether, especially when they are just voicing their opinions in a proper manner. I can understand if it was because of constant abuse to a person/persons but many good people on here have had their accounts deleted just because someone reported them for having a differing opinion. Now that is wrong.

I don't like giving people violations.
It seems like such a mean spirited thing to do, and I can't help but feel a twinge of conscience about 'imposing my point of view' on them...
Maybe I'm just too nice a person.
Getting them, on the other hand, is, well, I won't say fun, more odd.
I spend hours going over the question (for instance) I've had 'pinged', trying to work out what could possibly be offensive about it.
The conclusion I came to last time was simple; I can only surmise that one of the people who read it was conscience-challenged.

So much for free speech. (Or some suitably cynical quip).

Cheers
:)

Getting violated on purpose? Is it hot in here all of a sudden, or is it just me?

I've said some really outrageous stuff and waited for violations which never came, and then I've said some perfectly innocent stuff and been somewhat bemused to get pinged for it. Actually, I haven't seen a good reason why any of mine which were reported should have been, and at least two which were very obvious efforts at censorship.

I dunno, I guess in any situation where there's a system open to abuse, there will be people all-too ready and willing to abuse it. I call that human nature, others may disagree.

I do not report except for spam that I keep seeing. Once or twice and I let it go. I do report offensive avatars too. I do not want to see body parts displayed without taste.

I do not ever report anyone for disagreeing with me. I have been reported for that reason many many times.

Do we need to guess what the religion is of those who report you for disagreeing?

It's interesting, all the one's I've recieved have been for rather inane kind of stuff.

I've only ever dished one out once, when someone said something incomprehensively awful about my young daughter.

In all my life, I have not met people as hateful and nasty as some of the christians on here.

I only report on obvious severe violations.

If I get one, I hope that I truly deserve it.

if i were to give a violation, i wouldn't think it's funny, because i would have to really feel hurt to feel the need, even so, i would feel no satisfaction in doing so.
i have recieved violation notices & hate mail from someone, which is really nasty.

I like getting them. Someone cared enough to spend that much time and thought on me...positive or negative, that's still energy they send out to me. So, I just drink it up and laugh my butt off.

It is better to give than to receive.
