On Easter Sunday my Uncle ran over my cute little dog! I was so sad I cried and cried, now when I want another dog do you think he should be responsible for paying or at least helping me pay? How do I ask him?

Just so you know I live on a farm. My dog... make that all of my dogs are allowed to roam. They respect the law of never being on the public road, Dotti my dog who was killed, was outside to go to the bathroom. I was not at home, my parents let her out for me while I was picking my Grandmother up for church. Letting a dog outside to do her business is not the issue here. The simple fact is that he was driving like a jackass and basically murdered my baby. So if your response is to condemn me as an irresponsible pet owner please keep it to yourself. I have seen enough pain this week. Thank you.

If he helped to pay the vet bill if your vet disposed of the body, then he shouldnt pay for a new pet, but if that didnt happen, then maybe suggest to him that you would like another dog but that you cannot afford the full price....see if he offers, if he doesnt get the hint...leave it. Its your decision to get another dog at the end of the day.

I'm going to be a jerk here and ask, what was your dog doing in the road? As a pet owner, you are responsible for your dog 100% of the time. That includes when he's outside left unattended. Assuming that your uncle wasn't breaking any laws by driving off the road, I don't think he should have to pay, but chances are, if he's got the money and your family is close, he'll do it. It's a little rude to just flat out ask him, but I guess if you're going to do it anyway, you could try to be sly about it. Mention "I really miss so-and-so, but I'm afraid that when I'm ready for another dog I wont be able to afford it!" If that doesn't work, I'd just drop it. Any sane and allowed-to-operate-a-vehicle person would take the hint, and either respond or ignore it. Don't start family feuds over a dog that you should have been monitoring in the first place.

I'm sorry about your dog but why was your dog running around a moving car? Don't you think it was your responsibility to be watching it. I know if my dog got out and got run over I wouldn't expect the driver to buy me another dog or pay the vet bills as it is my responsibility as a pet owner to have control of my dog.

If the dog was properly restrained and in a safe place then yes he should help you but if the dog was running loose then it wasn't his fault. Small dogs are hard to see when you are in the car and they need to be supervised at aall times. Sorry.

I am sure your Uncle isn't to happy about running over your dog. This was not your uncle fault. I am sorry... this was your dog ....it was up to you to make sure your dog was safe. You uncle might want to offer to help but I wouldn't ask him to. This is a sad lesson for you to learn, but learn from it. I own my own business and i have trucks coming in and out all day delivering.. My first concern are my dogs and making sure they are safe. This was a sad accident and one that should have never happened.

You shouldn't really have to ask him, he should have offered.. But you go over and sit down with him and tell him ... Look, I found a dog that I would like, and it is comparable in price, and everything else... How about you and I go over and take a look.. I feel bad even mentioning this, but you did run over my dog and all... And then cry and cry and cry again..

I am sorry to say that your dog should not have been running loose, and should have been tied up or on a leash or in the house. That is your fault. If you are having troule paying just tell him that and see if he can help, but honestly it sounds like your fault. Hope your dog is ok,

Was your dog properly contained, in a fence, or on a leash when it happened? Probably not, and sorry but if your dog wasn't properly contained, then no, its your fault for keeping your dog safe.
