I thought Mormons believed Jesus was just a prophet, but I read in another message that Mormoms believe Jesus was God. Can you tell me which is correct and why? Also, does the Mormon book teach anything different that is in the Bible? What translation of scriptures do you use?

Mormons believe in the Jesus of the Bible, the Son of God, the Great Redeemer, the One who died for mankind and made salvation possible. Only through Christ can mankind be saved.

We believe in the Jesus who prayed to His Father in the Garden and on the cross, whose Father was well pleased when baptized in the river Jordan. We believe Jesus is the Jehovah of the Old Testament and that He had a role in the creation of the world, under the direction of God. We believe they are one in purpose and cannot vary from the other. I could go on, but that should be pretty good.

The Book of Mormon is only another testament of Christ. It does not technically add to God's word, but is a declaration by others of His life and greatness. Mormons don't believe Christ only appeared to his apostles after His resurrection, but that He also appeared to other sheep, which visitation is found in the Book of Mormon.

The Mormons use the King James Version of the Bible, but technically they can use read whatever. They use the King James because it was the most common and most used. The main thing is that they believe it is true to the extent it is translated correctly.

Looks like everyone else answered your first question. But the Book of Mormon is the story of Jesus Christ when he visits the Americas. It is very similar to the Bible. Now, a lot of people say this sounds absurd, but you convert by faith, and I can tell you that I know the Book of Mormon is a true book, that Joseph Smith was a prophet, and there are still a prophet on the earth today. I'm sure you can find some missionaries if you have more questions.

We believe that Jesus is the Only Begotten Son of God in the flesh, that is is God's son and that God sent Jesus here to the earth to atone for all of mankind's sins. Jesus is the Christ, our savior, the Redeemer of the world. We worship him, we adore him and know that there is no other way that a person can return to God in Heaven, only by and through the Lord Jesus Christ. He is our Savior.

The Book of Mormon does not teach contradictory things to the Bible, but clarifies and substantiates the Bible as "another witness and another testament of Christ."

I am not Morman, but I will give you some answers to your questions.

The Mormon religion was founded less than two hundred years ago by a man named Joseph Smith. He claimed to have received a personal visit from God the Father and Jesus Christ and told that all churches and their creeds were an abomination. Joseph set out to impose a brand-new religion that claims to be the “only true church on earth.” The problem with Mormonism is that it contradicts, modifies, and expands on the Bible.

The real meat of Mormonism is found in their other scriptures, The Doctrine and Covenants and The Pearl of Great Price. These books, however, Mormons do not hand out at the door - and for good reason. If people knew up front what they were really going to be asked to believe (things such as God once being a man, denial of the Trinity, Satan being Jesus' brother, pre-existence of souls, etc.) they may not be quite so willing to put aside their skepticism.

Mormon leaders have taught that Jesus’ incarnation was the result of a physical relationship between God the Father and Mary. They believe Jesus is a God, but that any human can also become a god.

No, Jesus is not "just a prophet". He is the only begotten Son of Heavenly Father. He is the second member of the Godhead.

The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. It tells the history of a remnant of the Jews who come to the New World. Other than the history, it tells the same gospel message as the Bible. We use the KJV.

The answer is in the details (fine print). Jesus is the #2 in the godhead, being born of Mary, who conceived him by an affair with god the father. Mormons believe the father and Jesus are flesh and blood humans as separate and distinct beings, but with the same agenda. Jesus is also the brother of Satan, but Jesus had a better plan. Jesus is also Elohim, and the creator of the world, but maybe not the other stars, and definitely not the other galaxies. Those belong to other gods.
Joseph Smith met Jesus in 1826 about the same time he was arrested for 'Glass Looking'. He was told not to join any church, but became a Methodist exhorter two years later.
Great stuff, mormon history..

Jesus is the only begotten of God the Father. It is what we have been taught and it is what is in the Bible. The Book of Mormon doesn't teach anything different, it just clarifies somethings for us. Sometimes the Bible uses stories instead of just coming out and saying what it needs to say. We use the KJV.

Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are called the Godhead. They are unified in purpose. Each has an important assignment in the plan of salvation. Our Heavenly Father is our Father and ruler. Jesus Christ is our Savior. The Holy Ghost is the revealer and testifier of all truth.
