LOL!

I'm an Irish lassie, and I do say, it's not easy to get a tan. I had to go to the tanning salon for months just to be darker than my wedding gown.

I'm not Irish, but I'm very, VERY white, with freckles and I normally take on a sort of smoked salmon colour after a few hours in the sun. Having lived in Australia for two years and by being very, very careful, I did manage to get a tan. The secret is plenty of sun cream and to take things slowly. Something which people living in Ireland and the UK can't often do. There it's a case of: 'Hey, is that the sun? Quick, get your kit off and stay there til it hurts.'

Yes. My boyfriend is Irish, and trust me he doesn't have much melanin. Still, when he tans in the summer, he turns brown, not red. He doesn't even freckle much, except on his arms. His mother is the same way. His father, however, turns beet red. They are both Irish in the traditional sense of the word, that is to say not recent immigrants.. His brother doesn't turn red either. Like most things, it depends on genetics.

Yes, I never turn red. I'm about 1/4 Irish.

I'm not too sure... my other half has Irish parents and he looks like a freckled lobster after going out to the rubbish bin on a sunny day. So, speaking from experience I'd say - NO!!

Anyone can burn but some people do not burn as easy. I am not sure about Irish but me, my Dad, and sister do not burn that bad. It is the Greek in us that just dose not want to burn or more likely it has more to do with the darkness of you skin.
