I'll adress this issue first: If you want a dog who is not a lot of money, ADOPT A DOG FROM THE POUND. Any breeder who is selling a dog cheap is scamming you, either with a defected dog, or otherwise. Secondly, I'm not sure why you mentioned bulldog, because bulldogs (American, French, AND English) are known to be all together the most expensive breed to purchase. I have two English Bulldogs, and they were $1700 and $2000. If you're finding bulldogs anywhere for less than a thousand dollars, DON'T get one. These dogs are naturally problemsome when it comes to their health, and you absolutely get what you pay for. If you don't have a lot of money to purchase a dog, I'm assuming you don't have a lot of money for health care, etc, so buying a mutt (mixed-breed) is your best bet.
Secondly, ANY dog, when properly trained, will walk on a leash without pulling you. Research leash-training, and look into different types of training collars, suck as choke-chains, pinch-collars, head-haltis, harnesses, etc.

Any dog that you take the time to obedience train won't pull you to the ground. I have an almost 200lb St. Bernard and my 7 year old can walk him with no problems training is the key. As for a bulldog, just because they are small don't let that fool you bulldogs are very powerful dogs. Choose a breed of dog that you have done lots of research on and think will be the best fit in your family and do lots of training and you will have a friend for life that you can walk anywhere. Good luck.

If you buy any breed of dog and train them to walk nicely when they are small, you won't have them pulling you to the ground.
Check your local shelter for a nice dog that is looking for a home. They have puppies sometimes too if you are looking for a dog you can start training young. If you don't have any ideas and aren't stuck on a specific breed, the shelter is a great place to find a friend and save a life!

Check your local shelter for a dog that needs a good home the people who work there can help you out with classes on how to train your new friend and you know you will be getting a health dog from them .Pure breed dogs can be costly remember what you put into your animal is what you out of them.

Well any dog is trainable, ESPIALLY if you use a harness. They may seem cruel to some people, but trust me they work. It also depends if you want a big dog or a small dog. i have a german shephard and at first she was horrible with trash and stuff (she was a pup) but once i trained her i couldnt ask for a better dog! (And talk about pretty eyes!) I am also looking for a dog myself (a golden retriever to be exact) But listen TAKE YOUR TIME! DONT IMPULSE BUY! All puppies are cute! Good luck!

well what kind of dogs have you been dealing with? maybe you need to show your dominance a little more.
A labrador or a golden's are very well behaved and very easy to train! (if you want a bigger dog)
or the more obvious answer would be to get a toy or smaller breeds. there's so many! You can go to akc.org and they will have a breeder referral by state.

that website has a list of toy breeds

Look at the toy breeds. They are generaly mild mannered, and very trainable. Bichon's are my personal favourite, but any of the toy breeds should be considered. If you cannot afford a dog from a reputable breeder (and they will all be a bit pricey) consider going to the pound or contacting one of the breed oriented rescue groups.

A dog that weighs about 25 lbs. would be good. And use a Gentle Leader or a Head Harness to walk the dog. Try the ASPCA befor looking for a breeder. They are cheaper and those animals realy need homes.

A dog from a good breeder is going to cost money no matter what breed.
And any dog will pull you, you have to train to them not to.
