I think it's natural to picture your own race when you have a mental image in your head. For instance, I am Caucasian, and if I'm reading a fiction book, I automatically picture the characters as Caucasian in my head unless the book has said otherwise.

However, I know that where Jesus was from, he was likely much darker skinned.
