What do you say to the parents of the 16 year old Catholic boy who committed suicide last week , the same day the Vatican declared that homosexuality, paedophilia and incest are "one in the same" ?

Your own words, please. God's may not be relevant.

The boy was struggling with his sexuality. He jumped from a window of his family's apartment in Turin.

It all depends on how they're managing. I certainly wouldn't use this moment to push atheism, but I would be open to sharing my disgust with the church's backward notions if it would help them focus their grief. At this point, it's the loss that counts, not the reason. At some point, if they want to give their son's death a greater purpose, they can take on the church and the news media that report its mythology without critical scrutiny.

what can I say? It's what we've been trying to tell people for as long as I have been out. This is why the rate of suicide is so high among glbt teens. Who profits now from catholic churches pronouncement? What good did the church do? Another useless suicide's blood on the hands of the pope...But I suppose that's how they became one of the richest corportations in the world..but preying on those who could least afford to give...I feel terrible for the boy's parents..of course I do. However the church won't change until they get hit in the pocketbook.

It's totally disgusting and the church should be held accountable.

The same can be said of intolerant bigots such as Reverend Jerry Falwell and Reverend Pat Robertson, due to their hateful statements about gays:

"[homosexuals are] brute beasts...part of a vile and satanic system [that] will be utterly annihilated, and there will be a celebration in heaven." Jerry Falwell: Quoted in Jim Hill and Rand Cheadle, "The Bible Tells Me So", Anchor Books (1996), Pages 69-70

"Many of those people involved with Adolph Hitler were Satanists, many of them were homosexuals--the two things seem to go together."--Pat Robertson, "The 700 Club," 1/21/93

What more do you need to show you how wrong religion is?

I would sue the church and make the biggest fuss over it that I could, and I would not stop until the whole world knew my beautiful son's story.

It is one in the same when saying it is a sin. I would say that it is sad when homosexuals promote their agenda and cause young boys to question their life. Homosexuals should admit that they have a choice and that they choose sin. Then young boys would realize they have a choice too. They can live and turn from sin and be happy.

Why are you afraid of what God might say. Read Exodus 20. Thou shall not murder. God will look after this child's parents. God Bless

God's words are the ONLY ones relevant.
There is nothing to say to them.
