I mean, when it's blatantly obvious that the only reason they're asking is to have their ears tickled by their fellow believers and to find fault with the answers of the non-believers?

this is a non-sectarian question.

when i say "believers" i mean either the belief in evolution or the belief in a creator. both sides seem to do the same thing, so i want to know why do people leave sincere answers to insincere questions?

There are quite a few reasons why I do it.

One reason is, well, quite frankly I ain't a mind reader. I often try to guess, before answering, whether the asker is being Sincere or not. Some times I guess right, other times I guess wrong.

One Q I recently answered was asked in such a way it seemed clear the person only wanted to bash a group of people. Most of the answerer's worked from that POV and bashed away. Imagine my shock when the asker thanked me for my answer, as it turned out she was just feeling very depressed, and needed a kind word.

I figure if the person has the right to ask it, I have the right to answer it. If I feel I can effectively do so, then I go ahead and try.

Also, generally, there is more than just me and the asker reading it. So, it gives me the chance to offer a different point of view to the others answering.

I at times have had questions about various things related to selling. When I initialy saw Y!A I figured it would be perfect for finding answers to my questions. To ask questions on here, you must have points, to get points you are supposed to answer questions, to get points quicker it is best to answer questions about subjects you know, since I know about my beliefs I often answer about them. I also answer on other subjects as well.

Honestly I see Y!A as a free class. Through using it I have improved my typing skills. I also have gotten better at expressing myself in writting.

Hope this helps:D

That's a good question.

There are of course many questions that appear insincere. I've found that's it's best to assume the best of people. It's a happier way to live and perhaps the asker will learn something anyway.

I also hope that perhaps other readers may be influenced for the better. I think we can all grow from helping each other understand truth even if it began with an insincere question.

Most of the question are not worth answering -- I try to let the Spirit guide me and not to spend too much time sitting in front of the computer. There are other ways to serve.

No I don't bother reading long questions. When I see short hand text I give them a miss as well. I too old to try and figure them out. I don't answer the suicide ones either. I not sure if people are joking or serious and I don't want to take a chance and give my opinion.

1. To get 2 points.

2. To get the truth out and expose the lies. Evolution is a fact, not a theory, but the naysayers will quote inaccurate websites and outright lie (or tell things they believe to be true but have no basis in fact). I don't see anything wrong with being a Christian if it keeps you from drinking yourself to death, but it doesn't say anywhere in the bible that DNA exists, and if you don't understand DNA, you can't understand why evolution is real.

Insincere questions don't deserve and answer no matter which side they fall on. Many of the questions are designed to offend or be silly...why waste time posting answers?

If the question is sincere...someone really trying to understand another's position, then yes, I answer to the best of my ability.

1 Peter 3:15 But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have, but do this with gentleness and respect. Keep a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behaviour in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.

The idea behind anything, books, songs, music, movies, TV shows is to reach an audience and leave an impression.

To give another perspective to anyone who may be reading it casually. Most of those questions pre-suppose something about the group they mention, and I think it's important not to let false information stand.

In yahoo answers and in real life, I find that most questions that require opinionated answers are actually just veiled pleas for validation.
