There is no prob lem in religion. It teaches you to be a good man creature of God.
There is no manipulation in our religion.

Religion is man's way of trying to understand the many encounters we've had with God. It is such a profound event that many misunderstandings have occurred which I think have unfortunately become part of different Religions. But that is an innocent mistake. However, the deliberate manipulation of religion as a tool to manipulate the masses, which has happened in all religions through out history is undermining rather than underpinning the principles of Religions.

Extreme Fundamentalist Christianity is the most manipulative. They have almost a cult like hold on their followers. There is no way to actually get information about pressing problems in the faith - and many are taught not to research things further on their own.
Yes followers are encouraged to ask questions - because there is already an answer fabricated already. A lot of them take things out of context - such as speaking in tongues especially making it the only sign that one is truly a Christian.
Overseas - there is Radical Islam, where people are instructed to sucide for the furtherance of Allah. Not to mention the belief of killing all those outside of Islam.
There is also Hinduism - which is the very reason the caste system is still alive today in India. Why people live and die in the streets.
There are some good points of religions - but in the long run they have been subject to corruption and been used to control others with fear, violence and threats.

Religious groups are manipulative. Religion itself is not, but people.

A lot of good has come from religion as well as bad, just remember the bad comes directly from the actions of people not God or a higher power. No matter what the religion.

The original Sin was the sin of Pride. Basic Insecurity, (we all get pushed around when little, and made fun of, criticized, etc). Which leads to false prides like sexism, racism, nationalism and religious intolerence.

They all are because they are run by men who are power crazy. Look at the religious leaders of Jesus day.
He called them snakes and white washed graves and all they were was power hungry lovers of money.
so people using religion is not new.
