Well - one you show that you have no full concept of what the New Testament actually says. Which doesn't help your cause very much.

Two - Christians would say that you chose to go to hell. Which is a concept that is very hard for non-Christians to understand apparently. In this life you have chosen to turn your back on God and his gift. You have chosen not to be with God in this life. So why would God force you to be with him in the afterlife? You chose seperation and God is giving you your choice. I know a lot of people think this unfair - that they somehow need a second chance. I think it's pretty straight forward really - and it's not like what you are presenting.

I do not believe Jesus was the promised Messiah by a long shot - but what he is asking is not very uncommon. Pagans had the same in their mythology of a dying/rising savior giving salvation. And for the Jewish sect - there were numerous Messiah claimants in the time of Jesus that gained a great following. And all these Messiah claimants met the same fate as Jesus.

So no - I don't think it's that unreasonable. Nor, if you bother to read the New Testament was it a sudden thing on the part of Jesus claiming he was the son of God.

Look John, the Bible is not a collection of pretty good guesses,it is absolute truth and Prophecy concerning the coming of the Messiah written by God inspired honest and humble folk,Jesus has fulfilled everything that was prophesied about Him and no one in the history of the world has even come close,it is no use to read the Bible with malice or preconceived ideas,it must be read with an open mind and heart.

There is so much more that you need to understand about the Bible. I was the same way until I started a Bible study and found out the real reason that everything happened. I would highly recommend a Bible study for everyone.

The house on one side of us is empty, and there's a little park on the other. We'd have to imagine a god emerging from either side...yup, no reason why a world-wide religion can't arise from that, hardly be the first time.
