Whats the best way to make sure that my local taxe return form has been received by my city taxes gov org?

I have paper filed my state taxe return, I just want to double check it made it to them on time, there has been some problems with our mailing system within the building, Is there a number or an online site I could check?

If you used certified mail you could check the Delivery Confirmation ID @ www.USPS.com . It is a wise move to always send tax returns by certified mail. You have proof that you sent it and the when they received it.

For local, probably nothing online, and they probably have huge piles right now so calling them might not help, they very possibly don't have it processed yet. And since you don't mention where you live, nobody could give you a phone number or a website if there is one, and someone knew what it was.

For future years, send it certified mail and you'll have proof of mailing. Or hand-deliver it, and get a receipt. That doesn't help, of course, for something you've already sent.
