Unfortunately, that is how a lot of people view God- like He is some big, fuzzy Santa Claus in the sky. How does that make us any different than people in the past who have sacrificed to the 'Rain God' or whatever? (Dance nice and He makes it rain, don't dance and He does not.) The idea that God is a personal God is unacceptable to them.

I'm not going to pretend that I have a lot of authority to speak for God, but since their seems to be a lot of confusion over what God's role should be in human affairs, I'll make an fool of myself and submit my ideas anyway.

It is my thought, that we are somehow an experiment that went awry. All through the OT (that's all I have to go on), we see where God cries, is frustrated ( we must be able to limit Him somehow in what He is able to do for us), gets angry, loves, hates, and shows the whole gamut of emotions that we are so familiar with. He does indeed treat us as His children. He's not impressed with our sacrifices and He can't be fooled by sanctimonious rituals. He knows your heart and only honors your truth.

I could go on and on, but enough already. You cannot trick
God into doing only nice things, and somehow protecting us from all the bad. That would make Him a puppet.

There is no doubt that God created evil. But God has chosen to be GOOD, that's all I can think.

Why do bad things happen to good people? Because there are no good people, we have all fallen and from our very conception must bear the price of our fallen nature (suffering, pain, and sickness and death), as all of of nature does. ( It's interesting that Christ's ministry was entirely to relieve the suffering of people).

When will it be over? When He says that it will. But it will- that is our HOPE.

And I hope that this makes sense to you.

God is real, and if he were like a magic lamp then he would not be God, he would be a slave.
