absolutely, it is called atrificial insemination... has nothing to do with religion.

You know what? Personally, I don't think it really matters as far as the Bible goes. It doesn't really have an effect on Jesus' meaning, which was to show that we are beyond this Earthly realm. He showed that by dying on the cross, i.e. that he can continue to live even when his body dies.
Either way, it doesn't matter to me, but to some people it does, and yes, they believe that Mary was a virgin when she was pregnant. These people tend to be afraid of questioning their faith.
Do I believe that Mary was a virgin? No. Not really. Not in the sense that I don't believe that miracle could happen. All sorts of interesting miracles have happened, so actually I'm pretty open to a virgin birth.
But, the reason I don't believe it was a virgin birth is because she was a married young woman. Of course she had sex. That's what young married couples do and have always done everywhere in the world throughout the ages. It's not like she was married to a leper or something. Joseph was an able-bodied young man. Those people spent a lot of time together and to think they never laid down with each other and enjoyed sex is ludicrous.
For the people who think Mary was a virgin, I say, "Yeah, right!"

In vitro fertilisation allows a girl to get knocked up without having sex. If she had never had sex before the in vitro procedure she would be a pregnant virgin.
There are well attested examples within the animal kingdom:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/6196225.stm
There are anacdotal examples in humans (I heard one about a bullet through the groin going into a woman - these are not well attested!).
Did something like this happen 2000 odd years ago? I don't offer any comment. That would be to talk abut the actuality rather than the possibility. Your question relates to the POSSIBILITY and, to be frank, appears to sneer at those who believe that it it possible: which as we have seen it is!

Hey...I know you obviously don't believe it can happen, but I can assure you it can..(putting God aside for a moment)...I guess you didn't receive Sex education in school, so I am just going to enlighten you with a brief fact...A woman can get pregnant even if there is ONE sperm that touches the Vagina...She can even SIT on a spot where a MINUSCULE drop of sperm is and get pregnant...No Sex involved!!
I Myself though, like that God allowed Mary to be Pregnant without sex...
I have found that their are some things that you can never fully understand unless you open your heart and have faith, and then all the answers come and everything just makes sense...It's hard for a person who doesn't believe in God to believe something like this could happen, but for a person of faith it is a SIGN of A God....

First, let me say that God can do anything He d--n well pleases. If He wants to have a virgin get pregnant, then shes getting pregnant. Secondly, let me correct that idiot "I Hate F" (above). The bible was not written in Aramaic. The N.T. was written in Koine (common) greek. The O.T. was written in Hebrew, except for a SMALL portion in Daniel and Ezra that was written in Aramaic. And the "Immaculate Conception" is the Doctrine of Mary being without original sin. Has NOTHING to do with the "Virgin Birth" of Jesus. Also, the greek word for "virgin", can ONLY mean VIRGIN and nothing else. Gee, are you an idiot or what?

I will take a minute to explain what the Bible is saying when it speaks of Mary as a virgin. It means that she was not knocked up by a man. How can that happen? Only God who made us can make it happen.
Mary did get pregnant after the birth of Jesus, and she had other sons and daughters through Joseph.
Unlike women today, she had not given her virginity away to the one that she was engaged to marry, or to anyone else.
We don't need to question our faith, we have plenty of people out there doing that for us. We just need to stay grounded in the faith, and ever learning.

Actually, in Aramaic (the original language that the bible was in), the word 'virgin' means 'young girl'. It has NOTHING to do with 'immaculate conception'. Many things are lost in translation. Also, humans have changed the bible so many times that it is CRAZY to believe it word for word. People that do that might as well just believe EVERYTHING they see too.

Mary was not just "a girl"...she was born without sin. She is the Mother of God. This was prophesied, that the savior would be born of a virgin...just because you don't understand it, does not make it unbelievable.
God can do anything...and yes, people really believe this.

I know no one is going to agree with me but I strongly feel a girl can be virgin so long as her mind is not involved in the act. The day she happily surrenders herself is the day she loses it.
