What if I'm right and Jesus is the Saviour. Because i believe, I know that I will be in Heaven and if I'm wrong, oh well!! I have nothing to lose. What if I'm right and your wrong? Why not just believe? Is it a matter of pride? What is your reasoning? I'm not trying to be smart about it, I seriusly want to know. I mean, a lot of aethesits will say they do not believe in the Bible because it was written by man. But, it was written by many different people thousands of years apart and they all hinted at Christs' coming. Could so many people, thousands of years apart, really be wrong? I know why I believe, I'm curious as to why some don't.

I am not saying I bleieve in order to cover my butt, I believe because Jesus has moved in my heart and I love my Lord and Saviour. If you read and truly understand my question, it is a matter of true curiousity as to why some choose not to follow the way of the light.

Hi, what if you are right, but listen you are indeed very right,of course you receive a few sarcastic comments especially about Pascals wager,oh how the Atheists love to knock it,it gets on their nerves so much.
Here is some advice for you as a believing Christian,be strong in your belief and allow no one or nothing to cause you to weaken in any way,the world has a subtle way of doing this these day`s.
You belong to Christ and rejoice in this and never ever get bogged down in arguments that can only upset your spirit, finally Jesus said `Do not cast your pearls among swine`

You see, Jesus was a Eastern person, We in East understand spirit and its amplifications better than most people. West when adopting Jesus as a saviour translated him in their Jargon into a thing of West and the prevalent customs and beliefs of those days.

This took away from Jesus the essence of his teachings and his Eastern centuries old way of life. Jesus is no someone new, he is a chain of many prophets who foretold many things and even Jesus foretold many new things to come after him. What about his prophecies ?? Did you read Gospel of Barnabas ??

I know what you believe ! But what you believe is some interpretations devised and manufactured by Holy Church.

There are many more reasons to not believe in the bible (or religion for that matter) other than that is was written by man. I could not just believe in something because of the 'What have I got to lose' attitude. To just accept things for what people tell me would take away my freedom to think for myself and to search for the true answers. I may not have any children of my own but children are the most brilliant young minds in this world. They question everything until an adult tells them otherwise. No one should ever restrict a child's questioning. I have total respect for parents who give children their freedom to ask whatever they want without prejudice.

first... the problem of the bible is not that it was written by man. The problem with bible is that it has many many contradictions (lies) so how could God have approved of it.

second... if God is all loving and if we are his children and a person does believe in him when that person dies do you really think God is going to act childish about it and burn that person in hell because God himself gave us freewill to think for ourselves

Third... christianity is not the only religion and not the largest religion so if you want to play the odds maybe you should convert to islam or at least read the books of other religions... what have you got to lose if i am right

I'm a Christian, and I love ya honey. But your question is known as "Pasculs Wager". And its a poor excuse for believing. I believe in Jesus Christ because He is the TRUTH. To "believe" just to "be on the safe side" is not really believing, but "hedging your bets".......theBerean

Well if you are wrong then you face God knowing that He/She knows that you spent your whole time on earth thinking He was a judgmental punishing idiot who would allow people to suffer for eternity for a simple mistake.

That would be a bit humbling to say the least.

I have serious doubts that God is an idiot.

Love and blessings Don

Just as you say you have nothing to lose if you are right, then those who don't believe have nothing to lose if they are wrong. The same for this being vice versa, you being wrong, and atheists being right - when it comes to religion, spiritual beliefs have neither a right or wrong outcome as long as you are true to yourself and live your life the best you know how.

Ahhh the wager..... it rises again.

You are basing your superstitions on a 2000+ year old book that has no bearings on real life. It's a bunch of stories, fables, tall tales...... & you base your life on it. Why? So you can reap the rewards of the afterlife? That sounds rather selfish to me.

What kind of decent religion condemns for greed yet offers such a grand reward for obedience.... or as in the OT.... torture or death & an eternity in hell for disobedience. That sounds more like manipulation to me.... do what i say or suffer dire consequences in a place of extreme suffering that nobody has proof of at all.

But hey..... for the sake of argument..... let's say you're right & i live my life according to your wager.... I say "Ok, there is a god..."...... I would still not adhere to the practices & beliefs of the religion because I still believe them all to be lies. I would still be condemned to hell because practicing half-@$$ed is not good enough for your god. I am willing to bet that you, being a christian yourself, probably do not even practice the Old Testament ways, do you? Ooh wait that's right.... you go by the new testament.... Who gave you the option to choose which way you wanted to follow? God? I think not.... God wanted sacrifices, he wanted sinners stoned... he wiped out the entire population of earth because of their insubordination & misbehavior. It sounds like a religion based on fear to me!!

Why else would they have coined the term "God-fearing" as an adjective to describe devout followers?? Of course you fear it, that's why you are too afraid to think of a life where it doesn't exist.

I pose this question to you... What IF you are wrong? You will have lived your life in fear of his "wrath" and wasted so much. I also ask you.... If your god is real.... he gave us life for a reason.... we are meant to enjoy it & live beside our fellow human beings. I think that your god would much rather see all of his children as one without him than all of his children at war with him.

What do you do when you're wrong?

the its better to be right than wrong is a POOR basis of faith...
its like believing for your own benefit...

and the reason i personally dont believe in the bible is BECAUSE it was written by MEN. people are flawed... people put what THEY want to...
and YES people are wrong ALL the time.
