Can you believe that people still believe that gays choose to be gay?

It cracks me up. I am not personally gay but I love gay people I think they rock. It just stuns me that its still tought that someone would choose to be soemthing that is hard to be. No one chooses their sexuality, I didnt choose to be straight I just am.

Wow people don't be hateful or anything.

Although I do have to say quite a few of you aren't hateful---rock on with your open mind!

You're right. It's amazing that so many people have stupid beliefs like that, such as Reverend Jerry Falwell:

Falwell will use any excuse to justify his intolerance and bigotry, and if that means pimping God, then he will do it.

I think some do. I also think some are bisexuals who have been turned off of the opposite sex for some reason. But I will accept the testimony of most gays that they came by it naturally, that it was something they knew about themselves from the time they were old enough to know anything about sexuality or even sexual identity.

I believe it was Truman Capote who wrote a story about trying to consult a voodoo priestess when he was a child, so she would turn him into a girl. Clearly this was when he was too young for it to be other than built in to his very being. Many gays remember their first awareness of being "different" in some respect having to do with gender as the earliest thing they remember.

There was a scientific study done many years ago that ran in Time magazine. It showed the Hypothalamus in gay people was either larger or smaller (can't remember) than other people. It helped explain the science as to why we are either born gay or straight. We should all just "be"...and be glad for what we do have and help others in the best loving way we know how.

ok...that bit about "loving gay people and they rock...sounds ridiculous...You do realize gays are human beings too...dont you? Wasnt sure by that response you gave...thought you were talking about collector's items or a fad. ANYWAYS...back to your question...YES i can believe it...because although I am not a lesbian...after my divorce 7 yrs ago and with my extreme hatred for all living males at the time...although it was only for a short time....I explored new horizons/briefly experimented......I chose to be gay...I wasnt born that way and I didnt stay that way and noone forced me against my own freewill...so you see my dear...although yes you are correct SOME gays are born gays....there are also chosen gays(for example:family member was born gay....his 20 yr partner/live in chose to be gay(prior to this he had been married for many years and fathered 2 boys who would now be in their late 20'/early 30's).

I'm not gay either, but I have a gay friend who once told me "Who would choose to be gay? It's a very hard life" I don't think anyone choses to be gay, they're just born that way...people who think otherwise are just ignorant. Kudos to you for being so open minded and accepting.

Lets see , A Friend of mine when we were young was a real ladies man .Got married to a beautiful woman had 3 children and was always bragging about him and his wife's sexcapades .I caught them at work once .
She went through " The Change " divorced and at the age of 55 Decided to try sex with a man .
I consider that a Decision .
With that being said I no longer am comfortable around him .
I consider homosexuality a disgusting lifestyle .
I only speak on how " I " feel ,I am not judging just venting .
It ruined my trust in friendships.

I do think that some people can be confused about it for a while.

That's why so many gay people end up having kids when they are younger.

Every person born into this life is either born man or woman. It is those man & woman that as time goes on for them to let satan control their minds as to if they want to be gay Or Lesbians, None is born that way, show me medical evidence of it. You have none, Hey, My wife Worked in a hospital, & so do many of our church people. You seem to think they rock, Then rock with them in hell, I have kinfolks that is gay, & they are so sissyfied, it is pitiful, & I have worked with gays, Side by side, As long as they did their job, OK, The moment they try something with me, Down on the floor they went, You may say that is not Christ like, If I was Christ, They would not lay on the loor, They will be in hell, & the gay person I worked with was so sissyfied, he was afraid he was going to hurt himself, Finally The supervisor told him either do the work or go back to your other section.. He went back to his other section.

Some do chose that lifestyle after something traumatic happens in their lives (like sexual abuse).

But it's been scientifically proven that it is also genetic. Something is missing in their genetic makeup.
